My first ever 6k!

Feeling a great sense of achievement after successfully running my first 6k!

Completed in 42:47 minutes - a slow and steady run in this afternoon’s glorious sunshine. Really worked on my pace and slowing myself down when I felt my pace creeping up and this seemed to work brilliantly, my legs and breathing all felt good throughout and I had some energy left at the end to ‘sprint’ the finish. By far my most comfortable run of this week 😁

I wonder how good 10k feels if 6k feels this good…

Happy Saturday everyone! 🥳

Congratulations.. well done .. sounds like you hit your sweet spot .. me, I’m skiing and did 82k in 4 days but it’s easier than running

Really, you say 'skiing is easier than running' that's interesting to know. 😊

I'll second that! Skiing (downhill) is definately easier than running. Although, it helps a lot to be able to ski!

Your first 10km will feel longer. 🤣

It's my bread-and-butter distance nowadays, but it took many weeks for me to go from 6km to 10km, and about another six months before I was doing them multiple times a week.

Well done on your 6km. 👍

Haha good point!!

I can see why, it’s a nice distance! Enough to feel like you’ve really put a shift in but not too much to take loads of time out the day especially with a busy work schedule!

Many thanks 😁

Congratulations! Is it the magic plan you’re following? I think I might be one week ahead of you aiming for 10K by June. Also loving the longer runs (surprisingly).

Such a lovely day for a run. It was a rest day here so I just went walking but I did wish I’d had my kit on halfway round for a light jog!

Thank you! Yes just finished Week 2 of the magic plan, am also aiming for 10K by June! Me too - the last two weeks my longest runs have been my most comfortable strangely!

Was a beautiful afternoon for it, i’m looking at next week’s forecast with dread at the rain forecast all week! 😨

Yey!!! Slow and steady sounds gorgeous! 7km was my favourite distance for a long time! So celebrate your favourite distance!

Congrats on your first 6k! It definitely takes some focus at times to keep to the target pace!

I’m not sure what my favourite distance is although it’s good to do some longer runs. For me, I really enjoy running in the kind of weather we’ve been having recently (i.e. sunny, and warm enough to run in shorts and a t-shirt). I find that I have some runs that I don’t enjoy so much and some that go really well; I’m never sure how it’s going to go until I’m well into the run.

Not what you're looking for?
