Well having gone out and walked (pushing my granddaughter in the pram) this morning whilst the wife did wk6.2 I wasn't planning to run today. This afternoon the sun came out so I went for it! 5.5k is my longest run so far and as I'm doing parkrun every week now I thought it's time I started to run a little further. The aim is obviously to get to 10k. So I did the warm up work (6 mins) and started at a steady pace. I had no idea how far to go on the route I had chosen in order to reach my 6k target. Note to self - plan the route next time! Ran along the same route the wife had run this morning but added an extra loop. The last 1.5k was up a slight hill but managed to maintain a steady pace and stopped strava on the 6k Mark to discover my time was a respectable 33 mins 9 secs. Only problem was I ended up about 2.4k from home so a long walk home to cool off. Oh yes and today it was warm enough for shorts! I am tired now so parkrun on Saturday will be a slow one if I can restrain myself. Hopefully I'll do another 6k run next week and then 6.5k the week after.

First 6k run

Great run!
Well done 👍🏻 it was a lovely day for a run ☀️

Wow Dave, 33 minutes for 6k is excellent! Quicker than my 5k that’s for sure! Very well done. 👏👏👏
Have fun at parkrun, you’ll be fine with a nice day’s rest I’m sure! 👊🏃♂️😀

Well done Dave - an excellent time! You'll be knocking on 10k's door in no time!

The aim is to be comfortable enough to do the Swansea bay 10k in September.

Hi Dave. I used the 10% rule. Adding 10% to the length of time running every week. The distance will soon come after 2 to 3 months of that! 😁
😸 Katnap 😸
Yeah I think I'll be satisfied to increase my distance by 10% every 2 weeks.

Well done. It's my 10th too! Don't ever want to miss one now. Got the bug! Hope you enjoy
