Having managed to get to 5K now, I’m thinking about trying 6k in the morning. I thought perhaps a 6k long run once a week and a couple of easy 3-4K for the other 2 runs for a couple of weeks. Would this work?

I think so! Have fun tomorrow; are you going to cross over the bridge?

If you’re talking about Bridge to 10k, this is the forum 😂

Nah haha, I thought you had a bridge you could cross at the middle of your run. Oh probably got mixed up...

Not me lol, I run along a main road, as I run between 4.30-5am and have the street lights. I can’t manage a 5K in the evening at all. So tend to do a 20-30 min in evening without worrying about distance or pace. Perhaps one day that will change 😂😂

Gosh that is early, I wouldn’t be able to do it then so well done you!!

I think anyone who can run during the day/eve is amazing. I would love to just say ‘that’s it I’m off out for a 5-6k’ anytime of day lol

Mutual admiration then :-)

I overslept 😢😱😢 looks like it’ll be a shorter run later

Well you probably needed the sleep, shorter one today, longer one later in week :-)

😊 I’ll definitely get the 6k done this week 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

That should be fine Shelley, the main thing is not to increase your weekly distance by more than 10%. If you look at pinned posts, you can check out juju’s 8 week magic plan to reach 10k . You could use that to lengthen your running to whatever distance you want.

Sounds good Shelley. 👍 You could even eke the long run up a little each week too if you wanted. I did that en route to my first 10k - I think I added 0.5k each time, as well as parkrun and a shorter run.

I hopped on board ju-ju’s Magic 10 the next time round though, as I enjoyed comparing notes with the others on it. Same result though - 10k - so it’s up to you how you build up. Have fun! 🏃‍♀️👍😀

Oh nooo! Never mind, there’s always another time. The runs will wait for you. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I struggle to run longer during the day, so I’ll go out later and do a short one. Longer one will definitely be this week though 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Great, we’ll look forward to hearing all about it! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I’m with you - I’m much better running in the morning. In fact I’m not sure I’ve gone out in the afternoon more than a couple of times, and I’ve never run in the evening. Maybe I should try it one day!

Glad I’m not the only one. I’ve decided evening I do 20 mins but at a slightly faster pace (only a few seconds faster not sprinting!!). I’m still a snail 😂😂

Nothing wrong with snails! They’re my favourite running companions. 🐌 🐌 🐌

Have a great run later on! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍

Isn’t that a joy, to hear you talk of 3-4k as easy ? You’re doing so well. Get out there and nail that 6k, friend x

Thanks I know I’m shocked. Still a slow but steady snail 🐌.

I too am a morning runner and I too am increasing my runs. I currently run just over 6km. I do this once a week and the others I do 5k. I am not planning to increase by % but by a land mark. So I chose a a telegraph pole and run to that. I will do this for all of March and then in April I will find another land mark and run to that. Although I am away on holiday for all of April so not sure how much running I will actually get in so may have to do this in May instead of April. I still do my 5 min warm up walk and 5 min cool down walk, so I guess I am not actually running a full 6km if I take the distance I walk at beginning and end.
