Tuesday was my first run back to running after not having run for about 3 months. Having promised myself to run 3 times a week, today was to be a run day.
At work 2 colleagues are on holiday for a few days and 1 is ill with covid and we are with 4 in our team. So I am the only one standing and have to fall in for the others and my own work. Plus I have to train a new trader the administration side of our business. So in short: it is very busy. And to top it off I am not sleeping well since a while. So I am (was) tired and not really in the mood to run. Plus I am (was) sore in my left leg from my previous run.
You hear the Gremlins yowling? No fear, the stubborn part in me kicked me in the butt and launched me onto the treadmill. Again no YouTube movies to divert me, because I forgot to turn my tablet off on Tuesday and it had run dry. Thank goodness Spotify worked on my phone at least.
Again 20 minutes, lesson 2 of the Start 2 Run app, ending at 1,72 km (thank you Runn). And to my surprise it felt a tad less heavy than last run.
I did 100 twists afterwards on my twist-machine and I went a bit too hard I think, because now I can't breathe in deep. Must have pulled something in my chest...
Anyhow, again fingers crossed that Saturday or Sunday run 3 will happen π.
Cheers, Evy

Well done Evy, especially after your hectic work. Please take it steady as we don't want injuries do we by over doing things?

The sore leg is according to me due to taking shorter steps than I am used to. I might need a bit more stretching and walking in or out. I stretch as I do for an outdoor run, but I don't have the walk to and from.
As for the chest pain, I used the twisting machine not even for 5 minutes. But I might have twisted a bit too hard with my arms. Fingers crossed it is over tomorrow!
O my goodness Evy, that sounds nasty doing a 100 twists on that twist machine, now you are suffering from a sore chest making it hard to breathe, not advisable to run until your chest feels better, if sore chest persists better go to the doctor.
Actually, it sounds worse than it is that twist machine. But it was not even 5 minutes. I think I moved too brusque or so. Either way, hoping it will be better tomorrow!
Well done Evy, wish the gremlins would kick me in the butt and get me out walking in the mornings, Iβve no excuse. Take it easy Evy , think youβre pushing yourself too hard. As ALMorr says gentle does it. Youβll get there .
I honestly don't think I am pushing myself too hard. Running wise, it is just the start of the start of running. Like the beginning of C25K, just another app. As for the twisting machine, normally you have to do minimum 20 minutes on it and my 100 twists were not even 5 minutes. I think I was just a bit too enthusiastic and pulled on my arms a bit too hard. In any case, the chest pain is gone this morning, so jeej!
Sorry to hear that you injured yourself doing twists too brusquely Evy and that you have a sore leg. Hope you recover quickly and that you are not in too much discomfort. I did my back in a month ago by doing russian twists too quickly and without having warmed up properly and I had to spend a month on the IC. Ironically I had started to incorporate strength exercises to strengthen my core as that is good for running and instead I wasn't able to run for a month. I would recommend doing dynamic stretches before a run as well as a 5 minute warm up walk and 5 minute cool down walk after your run. If you haven't run for 3 months you might want to be build up your running slowly to give your muscles, tendons and ligaments time to adjust to the new load. Good luck!.π€
In regards to the running, I am indeed taking it slow. I am actually following a Start 2 Run app, which is basically the same as the C25K app, but from someone else. And following it from lesson 1, so from scratch. So no worries as to overdoing it. I do stretch before and after, but don't have the warm up walk before. I will have to kick it in again.
As for the twists, normally you have to do them for 20 minutes and my 100 twists weren't even 5 minutes. So it should not have been bad, but I guess I pulled too hard or so. Anyhow, the pain appears to have fully gone while sleeping, so jeej!!
Really well done Evy. You knocked those gremlins on the head for sure. Sorry to hear you are soooo busy at work but at least the run went well and set you up for the day ahead. Take your cooling down exercises easy. You donβt want any injuries. Take care and happy running πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Ouch a pulled muscle is no fun, hope it feels better tomorrow. Well done on that second run, coming back after a long break is never easyππππ Have a good weekend, it sounds like you need a break after a very hectic week at work!
The chest muscle is better today, luckily! And indeed, I can use the weekend. I wanted to practise my drawing after work, but did not think it wise to draw when this tired. So instead I rested a bit on the couch.
