Hiya,

I am still going strong on my 5 walks of minimum 3K a week and am trying my best to do at least 2 runs of minimum 3K a week too. But today I have been a fool. I would say: don't do this youself kids!

Before lunch I went for a walk with my mom. We decided to try a new route amongst trees not far from home, where I have seen people walking in the past but never dared go myself on my own. It was not long amongst the trees unfortunately, but it was nice to find this little piece of nature here. We walked back through the little park near our home (pic made in the park of some swamp-forget-me-nots) and the walk ended at 5,40 km.

Then in the afternoon I decided to do a run on my treadmill. At first the plan was to do 3 km as I still had 6 km left on my Conqueror challenge Inca Trail. But then crazy kicked in and I decided to try and go for the full 6 km.

I decided to Jeff at 3min00 / 1min30. That is half a minute less walking than my previous run. I did not want to go shorter yet as I still have to build up still. After early December I did not run for a few months and after I never went passed 3 km.

I started at 6,2 km/h and increased the speed every interval with 0,2 km until 7,0 km/h. Then I increased with 0,1 km/h until 7,5 km/h and I kept it at that. This is MUCH faster than I normally run on the treadmill. Normally I go max 6,6 km/h.

So I ran and ran and ran and I reached 6,10 km in 60 minutes. And how on earth did I do this, I wonder. I stopped running early December, ran a few times on my treadmill in February / March with a sort of C25K app doing max 2,5 km or so and now out of the blue did 6,10 km. I do call myself crazy and irresponsible.

But... I liked it and am glad and proud I did the walk and the run today.

Cheers, Evy

Well done great run and walk. Love photo of blue bells. Mine are just out in garden, I did a 10 km walk and Mr D a 13 km , now he’s suffering with sore glutes and his back. 👍

10K and 13K, well done! I still have to build up a bit to reach that (again). I was able to walk that in the past, but feel as if 5K is now my comfortable max.

Take your time and build it up like your doing. I’m like you going out every day but just walking. I’m trying to stick with it and challenges on Strava and Garmin helps. .

The problem with me is time. I get up at 5:45 to go to work. After work I can do a walk of 1 hour or so about, but not longer. So I can't really build up. I could go a bit longer in the weekend, but often don't have enough time either because of things to do and a lot of slacking / time wasting (feel free to insert a rolling eyes emoticon here 😹). I should change my live a bit I think...

You’re doing well as it is. I’m the opposite get up at 5.45 am walk 4 km before work and back for shower and brekkie before work at 9am. Don’t finish till after 4 then back to chores and paperwork, no time in evening. Longest walk Sunday . I’ll be glad when October comes retirement, more time . Hopefully my life might be a wee bit different. 😊

Well then you can count off the days until you can do long walks every day! Maybe after a while you can come over to Belgium and participate in the 'Dodentocht'. It is an event in which you have to walk 100 km in max 24 hours. A fellow patient at the hospital has done it a lot of times already.

Hmm. .... Risky maybe .... But, well done.

Great picture also 😁

in reply to Instructor57

Risky for sure, I don't feel anything at the moment. So I might be a bit sore tomorrow, but I hope no injuries!

Congratulations on your craziness 😂😂Sometimes we do things which probably aren't the most sensible but they turn out to absolutely fine 😄

I'm glad to hear you are doing so well.

I love bluebells.

Thanks and yes, sometimes we don't really listen to the reasonable part of our brains 😁

Beautiful photo BS! Glad to hear you’re still getting out for walks with your Mum, the spring is a wonderful time isn’t it! And you ran as well - fantastic! That must make you feel so good after such a long time when you haven’t done so much - well done you! And I hope there are no after effects tomorrow!

in reply to Oldgirlruns

Thanks and so far no real after effects besides being tired. But that may also just be Monday..
