As today was a non run day I decided to do some of those plank things Gail introduced us to.
Then, having finished the planks the heavens opened and heavy snow started falling. Oh it was just too much temptation. No faffing, just straight up the stairs piling on freshly laundered run wear. Isnt that just a lovely smell. Anyhow...... π€£π€£
This was a non run day so a fast 10 minute quickie. I found it more difficult than expected as the snow falling onto the wet pavements made for quite slippy conditions. I'm also starting to think my Brooks shoes are not as slip resistant as my old Asics. I think I prefer my Asics to be honest.
It was quite funny comparing people out with winter coats, hats and scarves with us runners wearing just our meggings as @birdlady has declared them to be.
Another lesson learned ... put my hat on. I needed snow wipers on my glasses.
Living up to your name, I thought, as you described the excitement to get out and thrill at running in the snow. Fab. Love that spontaneity! Iβm still to finish the plankathon that DylanTheRabbit initiated on Strength and Flex (must attend to that), but I definitely noticed in yoga class this week that I was much improved with the dynamic sides.π
π No problems. I think I was banging on about them for weeks on end because I got stuck in the plan (a shoulder problem caused by lifting my bike from a train). But itβs great to be reminded that itβs some unfinished business.π¬
I know what you mean about running past the walkers all wrapped up cosy while we're in our....well if you're in meggings am I in weggings? πSeriously, one of the things I love about running is it makes me warm. I'm that person in the office whose always saying, 'close the door, close the window, there's a draught' but put me outside in a running t shirt when it's 5-10 degrees C and I'm toasty!!
I have to be careful when kitting up. The bathroom is always very warm in winter. (It has the heatsink radiator for the hot water circulation.) When I kit up in there I get very hot. Then when I go outside I "don't feel the benefit".
I'm very much the same to be honest. My warm up is basically running although I officially class my warm up as the walking bit to cross the road ....... before running π.
I always do my dynamic stretches first though (before someone tells me off βΊ)
I find my Brookes are none to good on slippy paths too. If there is rain I'm temped to put on my trail shoes. If there is too much rain, I revert to slippers!
I'm glad its not just me then. I had to swap them over to my old Asics today as I nearly ended on my backside again walking on the pavement with a light frost. Grrrrrr! I'm really not impressed with them at the moment.
