Finally…. I got out this evening and ran

My first run in 7 weeks! A little jogette this evening with my daughter Dabby-dot, nice and short, but just enough to give us both the confidence to get back to it.

It was a hard push to get out the door on this chilly January evening; the end of a busy day for us both, and I was beginning to experience the whispers of the “it’s now or never” gremlins, and they needed to be quelled and put back in their box 😈 🔨 📦.

Plus I have joined the quest this month and Hidden has my quest list, so I feel accountable 😉.

Work is crazy busy, which is exactly why I need to carve out some time for myself and make time to run.

Dabby-dot returns to Uni in a couple of weeks so we have planned several runs together before she leaves. Tonight was her first run in the dark, all lit up with her dad’s running lights. She’s hoping for a run in snow ❄️ at some point. We had flurries today, so she may just get her wish.

Happy running all 🏃‍♀️😊.

Well done on getting back out there in the cold and dark, and lovely to be sharing it with your daughter too.

Some crisp, clean snow or even a heavy frost will definitely chase away the gremlins, fingers crossed for the ‘right kind’.Happy New Year DD!

in reply to Yesletsgo

Oh yes! Some frosty mornings running through the woods would be lovely. I usually find the good gremlins there 😊. Happy New Year to you too 😀

in reply to Beatlesforever

Well done us indeed! 👏🏼 👏🏼

I'll put a ✅ against your name DD as accounted for 👍 magnificent lil jogette well done you Hidden

in reply to

Thank you Ian. It’s was just a “lil jogette” as you say, but small steps in the right direction 😊.

7 weeks and here I was feeling bad for myself for not having run in 4 weeks. That means I still have some time to lazy about on my couch 😜. Well done for getting out there and in the dark even!

in reply to

Oh don’t! Those gremlins had really started to grumble, but this time they were helpful in pushing me out. Plenty of work ahead though 😬!

Good for you! There seem to be a lot of people on the forum at the moment who are a bit stop/start with their runs, including me, although I am getting out once a week.To go for a run on a cold winter's night is quite an achievement, so well done. The mornings are getting lighter very slowly, but before we know it, the daffodils will be out and we'll all have a spring in our step!

in reply to Roxdog

Hello Roxdog 😃. You have successfully got me looking forward to all things spring - blossom, daffodils, lambs, the first green buds on the trees 🌳 🌸 🌼 🍃; which is no mean feat in January 😃. Thank you 🙏🏼 Probably going to snow next week and temperatures will plummet, but I’m up for that too 🥶 ❄️ 😉

Always good to get back out after a break, we’ll done both, it’s easy to stay in during winter

in reply to SueAppleRun

Hello you two. Hope you’re both doing okay? I think work caught up with me and I’ve needed to hibernate a bit. I had a lovely dog walk along the beach on Boxing Day and thought of you both and your seaside runs. I think I need to treat myself to one of those. Keep well xx

I am so thrilled to see you back here, I am in total slump and need to get my mojo back as have not really run properly for a year. So glad you and your daughter get to run together. You have inspired me. Have a very big birthday this year which will catapult me into ‘old age’ So will get running. Happy New Year the Dots.

in reply to Timotea

Happy New Year 🥳 to you too. New Year, fresh start, that’s what I’ve decided. That and my sister has signed me up for a 10k in March, so I have my work cut out for me 😱!! Good to have a goal, only hope I can make it ….Big birthdays are milestones which can be really positive markers of where we have come from and where we are going next. I ran my first 10k on my 50th birthday a couple of years ago. I turned 50 much fitter than when I turned 40 and my Garmin is saying I’m currently 42, a whole decade younger! So even though I’ve slipped a bit lately, I still feel better for getting out there. It’s just that first little step you have to take which is the hardest one. I’m cheering you on Timotea, just waiting to for you to take that first little step and you’ll be off, I know it. 😊

I love your word, jogette, and it kinda sums up my first run back this morning after many weeks break. It’s amazing how easily confidence and motivation dip. However, I’m delighted to read that you have embarked on your runs of 2022, as have I. Keep going, keep smiling.

in reply to pinkglen

Those first runs back are the hardest, with that little element of doubt that’s been lurking with the gremlins who needle away at our self confidence. Well done on your morning jogette. 😊

How great to be able to run with your daughter again. I will keep my fingers crossed for a snowy run for you both

in reply to dijep

Hi dijep! A snowy run would be fun, fingers crossed 🤩 ❄️ 🏃‍♀️ as it would be another first for Dabby-dot and she loves the snow ⛄️ 😃.

Well done DD I’ve chickened out as it’s too cold for me. Didn’t bother me last winter but it feels really cold atm so I’ll be hitting the gym on Friday or the weekend after grandma duties Wednesday Thursday and Friday. 👍👍👍👍
