No point to running on empty.....

My daughter Dabby-dot had to finish week 7 of her C25k without me running alongside her this morning. I am streaming with a cold, which is definitely not COVID (I am all lateral-flowed and PCR checked out), but not feeling 100 percent and I had nothing to give running-wise, so I walked the dog nearby while she ran.

I tried to keep to myself whilst walking, as having a cold is proving similar to having hay fever earlier in the year - everyone steers clear as soon as you sneeze, and I don't really blame them.

Dabby found today's run hard going and she didn't really enjoy it, but she did it and joined me for her 5 minute cool down walk in the direction of home. We had quite a philosophical chat, reflecting on how far she has come on her C25k journey already. I told her that there's something to learn in every run and getting through a tough run will make her stronger. Her previous few runs have seen her settling into a nice rhythm and stretching out her stride in the second half of the run. She literally left me standing on our last run, as I had no energy and kept stopping to blow my nose (now I know why 🤧).

Hopefully I'll be feeling well enough to join Dabby to start week 8, but if I'm not she definitely has it in her to do it without me. 👍🏼😊

Well done to your daughter, a run on her own is proof she can do this but what a support you have been. I hope your cold clears up soon so you feel better and can get out running again. Happy running to you both🤗

Sorry to hear you are feeling run down, but at least you know it's not the dreaded Covid. Well done to younger DD for carrying on her running journey without you. I bet she didn't enjoy it because she was missing your company. 🤞 you are better for her week 8

Well done to you both Delly-dot, it’s no fun trying to run when you’re not feeling up to it! Dabby-dot is doing so well, hopefully you’ll be able to run with her again towards the latter stages of graduation! 🏃‍♀️👩‍🎓

Well done Dabby-dot for getting out there on your own; not easy when you’ve got used to having company - week 7 done and dusted! Yippee! Sorry to hear you’re under the weather Delly-dot, I hope you’re feeling better soon! I know what you mean about keeping clear of people- even clearing your throat seems to have people scattering in all directions! Happy healing!

Sorry you’re under the weather 🤧. What a great team you two are. Even supporting when you’re not well enough to join the run.

Well done to your daughter for being resilient and getting through a tough run 👍

Sorry to hear you have a cold they seem to be doing the rounds, back in the office as soon as someone says they don’t feel well they are given a wide berth!! Think it’s inevitable as we have all been so apart the past 15 months.Daughter sounds as if she is doing so well especially with your encouragement, hope you are better soon 😷🤧

Get well soon Delly-dot. Well done to Dabby-dot, my son lost his enthusiasm when I went away for 2 weeks then injured myself, he hadn’t quite got the bug and he’s back to uni next week 😭
