This morning I ran my 20th 10K, which was the Autumn Healthunlocked 10K, it was a very nice run, weather cool, temperature 6C, I ran it in a PB time of 1:08:44, beating my previous PB of 1:09:23 which was ran in September 2019.

Thanks Instructor57, yes, I enjoyed getting that PB today, I began the run at exactly the same time as the sun rose

Always a great time to start !Can't beat a good sunrise run 🌞

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Instructor57

On my old Smartphone which I used when doing C25K I now keep the local sunrise and sunset times, so for some of my midweek runs I know exactly when the sun rises and begin the run, today the sun rose at exactly 07.59, you will notice on the above graph that I began my run at 07.59

Well done AlMorr that's quite a milestone, and a great time too 👏. It looks like it might be a scenic route round some water too?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Woollyweaver

It is my regular route around a loch not too far from where I live, very scenic, part of the course is where my local 10K takes place in September, although that was cancelled in 2020 and 2021, the local Christmas Santa 5K dash in December is also run on that course around Broadwood Loch, it was also cancelled in 2020 and this year, I have not ran the Santa Dash but several times I have ran on the same course, my PB time for that is 31.31 which was run during the summer.

Well done Al and congratulations to you!! That’s brilliant 💪👏🥳 Just goes to show that consistency pays big rewards.

I hope you’re going to give yourself a wee treat 🙂

Thanks Irishprincess, I was very happy with my run this morning, a treat, well I had a Cadbury Vanilla Ice Cream Flake 99 when I got home from that run today, 😋 yummy

Oooh I haven’t had one of those for ages and now I really want one🍦

Well done Al. Its always good to get a pb - especially with a 10k. Bravo 👏 👏

Congratulations on your 20th 10k Alan and a PB as well. 👍

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10

Thanks Lexi6, I was hoping my run this morning would be sub 70 minutes and I could better my previous best of 1:09:23 which I ran on September 2019, that was my 4th 10K, this morning was No. 20, most of my 10K runs have been around 1:11 time, so I was very happy about todays PB.

Thanks nowster, I like that "a blooming good time" I was hoping for a sub 70 minutes time so I am very happy with my PB time today 👍 😊 🏃🏾

AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to GTFC

Thank you very much GTFC on congratulating me on my PB 10K run this morning, yes it was great breaking that two years wait for the PB today.

Well done and with a PB even! Looks like a nice route you take, all around a lake?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to

It is a nice route Evy, lake/loch as in Scotland, where I run there are 3 lochs, the one near to where I live, Drumpellier and the University of Stirling have a 5K parkrun around a loch.

AlMorr profile image

It is a lovely route, I often 🚶 walk, 🚴 cycle and of course 🏃🏾 run along it, a local beauty spot.

Well done Al, and a personal best to boot! That’s the way to do it 😁, hurrah 😃.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Frenc

Hurrah indeed Frenc, any runner always is pleased with a PB irrespective of the distance, this is my third year of running since graduating from C25K, it is the best year of the three, I have had PB's on running at the 3 parkruns I run at, a PB for (not) parkrun, also PB's on running 10 miles and today for my 20th 10K, another personal best.

Well done AL great time again. Good time to get out in the morning as well. Nice area you live with the lochs and Stirling as well. Our nearest big loch isST. Mary’s loch where you can water ski on it and sail. 24 miles away.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Doris8

I was happy with my time today Doris8, I like you enjoy running in the morning, St Mary's Loch is in a very lovely area, probably surrounded by hills, but not so good for running.

GailXrunning profile image
GailXrunning

Congratulations! I imagine that’s a great spot for a 10k (or any distance).

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to GailXrunning

Thanks GailXrunning, it is a great spot for running, cycling or walking, I have ran 10 miles 5 times around the loch and a few quiet streets as well 🏃🏾 👍

What a great run Al, and what a joy to still be knocking out those PB's!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to grumpyoldgirl

Thanks grumpyoldgirl, it is very nice as you say "still knocking out PB's,", especially on longer runs, I noticed looking a the 1K splits that the last 3 kilometers of that run were negative splits, 7.10,6.56 and 6.41👍🏃🏾

Excellent run for you AlMor, no wonder you're chuffed. Do you swim in that loch?? Looks beautiful.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Mormor1

I must confess that I can't swim, no one swims in that loch, sadly in 1995 a swimmer drowned in it, there are dangerous currents in that loch, I agree that my run yesterday was excellent, thank you, I am chuffed

colinla profile image

Great work Almorr, smashed it! Looks like a lovely route as well.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Snail_Male

It is a lovely route to run, cycle or walk, but no one swims in that loch as it has dangerous currents, even when it is frozen in the winter, no one ice skates on it.

Well done. Sounds like a great run. Its a marvellous thing, this running lark isn't it?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to johnm12

It was a great run johnm12, ha, this running lark has many people hooked, including me, although I only run twice a week, usually a Saturday and Wednesday, I look forward to them, on other days I go long walks.

Wow! Many congratulations on your 10km PB! 👏🏃🏻‍♂️ I see you are a man of an age where I have been led to understand that PBs are far harder to achieve. Brilliant!😊

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to over61andstilltrying

I don't think I will get many more PB's, this year has been very good for them, a PB at all three parkruns, a (not) parkrun PB, recently I had a PB for the latest 10 miles run and yesterday a PB for my 20th 10K, so a good running year for me.

Fantastic!

I wish you a good 2 Flake day if you fancy it! Best wishes ☺️

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Raisemeup

Thanks Raisemeup, ha, regarding the 2 Flake day, I have one when I get back from parkrun on a Saturday, a second one after my Wednesday run, they are in a packet of four, I take the other two usually around 2.30 pm on a Friday and at 9 pm on a Monday.

Thank you very much Itchiscritchi, considering that I was never going to run more than 5K after my first parkrun, now I have run 20/10Ks and 5/10 mile runs, you can never say how many more +5K runs you will run🏃🏾 👍

Hello , I have rarely posted on this forum , but I read it daily. I am part way through Jules magic plan after doing c25k in lockdown one. Reading your post has inspired me and given me the confidence to carry on .. I was having doubts that I would be able to get to running 60 mins. It is my running day tomorrow, I will be thinking of you and your Loch to keep me going. Thank you for your post. I saw it when I needed it most .

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Rachyee

I am so happy to know that you were inspired to continue running after reading my post about the 10K I ran on Wednesday morning, I wish you good luck for your running journey through Ju Ju's Magic 10 plan, like C25K you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to. 😊 🏃🏾 👍

Fantastic run Al! Congratulations on your 10k PB 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🏼

Thanks Delly-dot, still recovering from that run yesterday, no, not really, after the run I took my neighbours dog Holly a walk in another park nearby to where I live, I hope Dabby dot is enjoying university.
