Nice run for me this morning, my 36th 10K for this year's Healthunlocked Spring edition, I began my run at 7.50am in lovely cool conditions, partly sunny with a temperature of 10C, only saw two other runners and a few dog walkrs, my 5K split time was 34:29 which was my 153 rd (not) parkrun and my full 10K time was 1:12:20, I set my metromone app at 170 bpm, overall quite pleased with my run this morning. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ

Well done Al, that's a great time and you sound lovely ke you have noted the 10k

Thank you very much Sola, I am gradually getting a little faster running 10Ks using my metromone app, last week I set my cadence at 166 bpm and ran that 10K in a time of 1:13:19, this morning I set it before the run at 170 bpm, my time was 1:12:20, it's not guaranteed that the higher I set the app the faster I will run, it's all to do with stride but it does help a bit,

I never thought of using a metronome app, I remember you mentioned it before. I might give it a go once I'm back on continuous running

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Beatlesforever

I think it does help a bit regarding cadence, the app goes from 1 beat a minute to 300, however, for my runs I set it from 166 BPM for slower runs to 176 BPM for short faster runs, my PB for 10K is 1:08:44 back in November 2021, I think my cadence for that run was 174 BPM

Sounds like you had a lovely run in nice weather for running. Well done!

It was a lovely day to run my HU Spring 10K, no rain, no big puddles and where there used to be a muddy path through the woods, that part has now been resurfaced making it much more pleasant to run or walk.

Birdlady64 profile image
Birdlady64Graduate10 in reply to AlMorr

I wish that would happen to the path down into the woods near me.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Birdlady64

Complain about the state of the path to your local council, that's what we did and was successful.

Sounded lovely Al…you talked about this route in a previous post didn’t you.

Always good to note the 5k split for a NotParkRun too! πŸ‘πŸΌ

It was lovely LottieMW, I did post photos of my regulator route recently, I like (not ) parkruns whether it's just a 5K or a split with a longer run.

Well done Al πŸ™‚And - just now see you are an Ambassador! They made a VERY good choice πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

I am very happy to have become an ambassador Irish John, I have been with Healthunlocked since I found it on the Internet as early as September 2017, at first I thought C25K was something to do with running 25 kilometers but quickly realised what it is now, I enjoyed my 10K run on Wednesday, to quote the late great Tim ".keep running keep smiling" I am sure you do that as well John, I ran my only Half Marathon in memory of Tim last November, it was very long compared to my normal 5K and 10K runs.

Irish-John profile image
Irish-JohnGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Tim is much missed for sure Al. And yes, a HM is definitely a different run than a 10k - well done on finishing πŸ‘πŸ»

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Irish-John

.... but to quote you John "a marathon is a beast compared to a half marathon"

Irish-John profile image
Irish-JohnGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

It is!!! Whoever said 'Its just two HMs done back to back" never tried one lolI'm glad I did one, as hard as it was and as fortunate as I was that no way could I get an Uber at mile 23 - but apart from the event itself, the time and effort that you need to train is just not practicable or - to me - worth it. I might do a HM again, but I really cannot concieve of another FM. But in truth, HMs really don't appeal - Ten Milers will probably be my limit, if even those, from now on - simply enjoyable challanges rather than "How hard can I push myself again" πŸ™‚

That’s a great 10k time Al. You’re very disciplined to follow a metronome. Well done!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10

Thanks Mudita11, the metronome does help a bit to regulate my cadence.
