It was dull and overcast before dawn here in the fens! I wasnβt sure if I was going to be cold or not, so I decided to wear shorts (my legs donβt seem to get cold) long sleeved top & lightweight jacket. I can always take the jacket off and tie it round my waist. Of course I wore a sun visor, I chose a beige one this morning!
I didnβt know if I was going to do 10K or 12K this morning! I decided to wait and see. Maybe if I was close to a 10K PB I would push for that, then stop. Seemed like a reasonable plan!
I set off down the single track road by the river (shown in the photo) and I was off! This road gives me the extra 2K I need onto my 8K circular route. My pace is steady, but not my very slow pace. Sometimes I donβt even admit to myself what my plan is, but it soon becomes clear! Iβm trying for another PB π. Otherwise, I would be running more slowly.
I follow the route round and head back towards the village again. I can see that Iβm going well and I feel good, increasing pace in the second half of the run. Iβm starting to meet traffic, but drivers are polite and give me space.
Glad I wore my sun visor as the sun came out and was shining straight into my eyes for the second half of my run!
Itβs going to be close! Iβm onto 8K now and trying to work out the maths. Which I never can do when Iβm in the middle of a run, especially if Iβm trying to work out if a new PB is possible!
I run past my house. Iβm not sure Iβm going to get my PB until the last kilometre, but I did it and managed to shave more than a minute off my previous time. Also, my last kilometre was my fastest and that always makes me feel good!
A lovely run to set me up for the weekend. The sun is shining now here in the fens and itβs porridge π₯£ for breakfast!
