Yesterday we stayed the night in Poland, a resort town on the Baltic Sea called Kolobrzeg. Gorgeous hotel, very cheap considering the facilities. I love visiting Poland!
Woke to a dull grey morning. I'd have been happy to stay in bed but husband told me the rain had stopped so off we set. Managed a gentle 3k or so in 25 minutes running along the sea front. It's so beautiful, a fine white sand beach fringed with parkland. In summer it's heaving with people but in October hardly anyone.
At the half way point we cut back through the park, following paths covered in the autumn leaves. Huge trees towered over us, just wonderful.
Got back to the hotel in time for the best breakfast buffet ever then set off on the long drive to the ferry in Holland. My next run will be back home 😁

Oh, I’ve enjoyed your tourist runs. Today’s run looks exhilarating! Safe journey home ⛴😊
Hi OBK, nice post - sounds like a great time, hope the journey back to the ferry was good (that's a loooong drive). I also see that there is also a parkrun there! 🤤
it's also interesting to me as Kolobrzeg is very close to where my father was a PoW during WW2 and I have been planning to visit the area for some time. So the resort tip is very useful. Would you be able to share the hotel name please? Thanks in advance.
The Baltic coast of Poland is well worth a visit, I've been traveling this route on and off for the last 30 years and love it. We stayed at the Hotel Leda Spa but there's loads of choice. Remember to post your running pics when you go!
I have never visited Poland but hope to next year (still very Covid cautious)- we have several Polish friends through work so hope to visit them and also do a sort of pilgrammage for my Dad. Your recommendation about the Baltic coast is also good motivation. Will definitely post pics when the visit happens and many thanks for the tip.
Everywhere in Europe seems much more Covid conscious than we are and infection rates are apparently lower. The only nuisance is all the paperwork before and after and the cost of tests. We had to pay £90 each for PCRs to enter Russia and they didn't even check them on the border!!!!
I would need to ask my brother I'm afraid. It's name was "Stalag something" (naturally). It was over near Gdansk in a place called Marienburg (I think Malbork in Polish). He was on "The Black March" in Jan/Feb 1945 and passed close to Kolobrzeg (the route was a little inland from the north coast on the way to Świnoujście/Swinemünde and eventually onto Magdeburg).
