GOG on tour (and back, *sigh* )

GOG has gone a bit quiet, I hear you mutter, what's she up to? Well, I'm in a real life 5-10k running group, and the sessions so far have involved hills, intervals, and intervals on hills. Plus two homework runs between sessions. BUT last week I was in sunny Majorca. It was warm, beautiful, sunny, warm, and did I mention warm? I packed my running gear (of course I did!) I got out twice, the first run was on a trail round the back of the hotel. It quickly became hilly and stony, and I struggled in the humidity, so didn't try to go too far. The next time, I walked a little further so I could run to the sea front. A beautiful view for a 4k run, then walk back to the hotel for breakfast on the terrace with mountain views and fresh orange juice. Ah, bliss. Then shock horror, home to soggy blighty, and a 5-10k session with hills, pyramid intervals, more hills, and rain. My glasses were so wet and steamed up it was like running inside a cloud. Or a chilly sauna. Photo of Port de Soller for those of us who like flat dry beautiful runs. Wish we could all be there, although I gather the weather has got a little interesting since we left🌩️⚡

Lovely island lovely location, and you got some runs. Hold that happy holiday feeling through the damp autumn runs. You sound like you have it all planned out. Good luck

That is a lovely photo of Port de Soller, I bet everyone would love to be there, good run for you in the rain once you got home. Interesting weather, wind and rain, depending where you live in the UK, big contrasts, parts of England very wet and mild, 15C, where I am in Scotland, Friday is to be nice and sunny but rather cold, 8C.

I think sunny and cold is my favourite running weather. Although 8° would have me reaching for my winter gear 😀

Gotta love those hills:) I do! Flat is my problem... :)

It must have been a real shock after your beautiful holiday and what a glorious view!

Well done you!

I'm learning to accept them, don't think I'm loving them just yet, but they don't scare me now.

You hear that, hills? You don't scare me!!!😁

Beautiful pic GOG! 😍 Well done for packing the running gear. It’s always first on my list nowadays too. 😀

Extra special well done for joining a real life running group - it sounds hardcore (to me), and I bet you’ll be frolicking up those hills before too long. Go you! 👏👏👏

It's a great group, and they are really inclusive. The gazelles are happy to shoot off and double back, and nobody is left behind or made to feel they shouldn't be there. Packing was interesting, I got the max size carry-on that easy-jet allows, which is quite generous, but I took out some tops and my make-up bag so I could get my gear in. The old me would not have even considered that!

Oh yes the things you sacrifice so you can fit extra running gear in! 😅

Hope you enjoy your new running group and it looks lovely when you were on holiday as you say nice and warm.

No heat in the air today where I am in Scotland it was 2-3 degrees at 7am this is morning. 😊😊

Way to go... your group runs doing fun, and they’ll be building stamina nicely. Great job getting out there and doing it on holiday... some warm weather training is very good for us.

Happy running.

we’ve learned to run slow enough that Willow doesn’t hobble home just over 3k in half hour so will stay steady for a while to strengthen his knee thanks for asking

grumpyoldgirl in reply toSueAppleRun

That sounds promising, 3k is a nice distance.

SueAppleRun profile image

We’ve run 5k a few times now but it’s about going slow and it’s great that Willow isn’t moaning about his knee so half hour enough til we start the magic plan then build up slowly again
