Today was a perfect morning for a run but not very photogenic so here's a photo of a Greek kitten in the moonlight instead.
We arrived home on Thursday and spent yesterday recovering and catching up after a very long break and a similarly long drive home (we left on Saturday morning). This morning was dull and misty but I didn't want to put off running any longer.
It was odd to be wearing leggings again after the whole summer in shorts. The thermometer was only showing 12C so they seemed a good idea. As I set off I realised I was going quite quickly (for me), it felt good. I decided I wouldn't look at the numbers on my watch, I'd just go with the flow.
The paths were damp but not muddy and it was wonderful to be out in the green of the English countryside again. The first km felt long then the second and third sped past. Running by the river the tide was half out and the water calm. It's a change to see the murky brown of the North Sea rather than Aegean blue, it definitely has its own beauty.
So, another 3km (and a bit). As I ran I set myself a goal: I'm going to try and do a short run, an interval/speed run and a longer run each week, similar to the NRC plans. We'll probably be heading off again next month so the main thing will be to try and get back to a consistent running pattern, I've run less than 10km this month and it really wasn't enough.
