First run for over 2 weeks since my 10k

I completed the Magic Plan over 2 weeks ago and hadn't run since then, until this morning. I'd been on holiday, and had taken my running kit with me but it wasn't used :)

So now I'm back I decided I need to get back into my running routine, especially as I've signed up for an 8.5k event in December.

This morning I chose my familiar 5k route and it was hard going - half dark and raining - at times I wanted to give up but I'd still have had to walk home...

I also felt I was really slow (I didn't look at my watch as I ran), but I managed it and my time wasn't as bad as I expected. It seems that all the good food and beer on holiday didn't slow me down as much as I'd feared!

My plan is to continue running, varying my distances and routes to keep it more interesting without being too obsessed with distances or times - I'll post updates here.

Well done! It can be hard lacing those shoes up after a little break, especially if the weather’s not great. I find the dark can play tricks on my sense of pace - it’s fairly discombobulating 🤣 think that’s how you spell it! Well done again! 😊

Thanks for your reply - it's a good word, discombobulating 😜

I find it easier if I put my running gear on immediately after getting out of bed - then a quick coffee and off I go, before getting involved in anything else.

That’s exactly what I do! No mucking about , clothes, coffee, then off. 😁

I can still fit in a good half hour's faffing about whilst doing just that. 🤣

Ah yes, now I think about it, there may be a bit of faffage! I ought to have said clothes, coffee, faff then off 🤣. I always empty the dishwasher, not sure why it needs doing there and then. And stretching - I’m never awake enough to remember if I’ve done both legs or one leg twice 😆.

No interest in getting to 10 miles? Gnar gnar... I planned on getting to 10 miles coming weekend, but a badly behaving sciatic nerve decided otherwise. So I am postponing it a few weeks. Now I need to try to run again after a few days of 'sciatic rest'. I did miss running, even though it's not yet been a full week...

Hi Evy, no interest (yet) in getting to 10 miles - but never say never! For now I still think 10k is a long, long distance to run :)

Hope your sciatic nerve will soon recover - best wishes for that...

Thanks. For me 10K is just short of 90 minutes, but after having run it a couple of times, I really like this distance / time. I really want to get to 10 miles, just to have done it. But once I reached that, I will go back to 10K as my long run of the week. I might do another 10 miler once in a blue moon, but as it will take near to 2h30, I think it is too long to do on a regular basis...
