I'VE JUST RUN MY FIRST 10K!!

I wasn't planning on running so far tonight. The furthest I'd ever run was 4.4 miles (7K). I've been running 50 miles this month for Alzheimer's Society (a big challenge for me) and have struggled in the last week or so. I wasn't feeling great (non-COVID related!) and had to take a break from running for a few days. I went out a couple of days ago and struggled massively. I just about managed 5K but had to stop in the middle for a short break.

Tonight, I went running with a friend and by the time we reached 5K, I was feeling great. It wasn't until we reached 7K that we realised we were going for 10K! The final 2K were hard but feeling terrible has never felt so good!! I can't even begin to explain the feeling of reaching the 10K goal! This was definitely my favourite run to date.

I have now run 43 miles so far this month (69K)! If you'd told me I'd be doing this 5 months ago. I'd have said you were crazy!!

Massive congratulations, reaching your 1st 10k is a real milestone but to do it when unwell, in January and while raising money for such a worthwhile cause is a real reason to celebrate. Have a great weekend. Happy running 🤗

Well done 👏👏👏That's a fantastic achievement especially after not feeling that great.10k is a real milestone and you should be proud - especially raising money for a worthy cause in the process. 😁

I remember my first 10k and I was buzzing for days afterwards. I also raised some money for charity (Sue Ryder hospice)and it was such a positive experience and a privilege to be able to do that.

Keep it up 👍
