Run my first 10k..and frightened the dog.

It wasnt fast (1.11), and it certainly wasnt pretty!

I started C25K last year (for a bet), and graduated last July. This year, my friend challenged me to run in a charity race at the end of this month...10k. (Gulp)

So as it's a flat course and for charity I took up the challenge. I've been running the Ju Ju plan. Only I realised I'd need to lop a week off it if I'm to be confident about the 10k. Today was supposed to be a 9k run, but I'd run 9.5k before I realised it, so a bit like Forrest Gump, I just ran on 🀣. Breathing was fine, and legs are not complaining. My face is on fire, and my hair is stuck to my head. When I got home the sight of me frightened the dog! 🀣🀣

Running at 63 years of age feels like a kind of weird madness! Scary biscuits!

Well done Teresa, it’s amazing how many of us accidentally forgot that 2nd 9k and completed 10k a week early. Congratulations on your graduation, and enjoy your race. That’s very speedy too. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸŽ“πŸ’«πŸΎπŸ₯‚πŸ…

I might feel differently in the morning, as the old decrepit knees get out of bed 🀣

Brilliant! Well done, Teresa. And I love the idea of you haring away like Forrest Gump πŸ˜‚ - such focus 🀣

Running 10k at the age of 63 is perfect sanity. πŸ‘

Thank you! My mother passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the age I am now. I sometimes wonder what she would make of her eejit of a daughter running 10k in the rain 😁

She would be proud. 😊 (PS I have just amended my previous reply as it has some horrendous autocorrect errors in it I see 😱). x

My mother never walked the length of herself. Shopping and getting a bargain was her thing. Many an hour I spent trailing after her and giving it plenty with heavy sighs. She could bargain anywhere. As there were 8 children to feed, she made sure she got her moneys worth. She would still be telling me to buy stuff slightly bigger so I'd grow into it. 😜

Different times and generation. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Well done! It will hopefully be even better on the day with people all around and maybe spectators cheering! Great achievement. πŸŽ‰πŸ†πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I hope so. Must write a memo to self: no more challenges or bets to take on from friends πŸ˜…πŸ˜œ

Brilliant! I still have to remind myself that a year ago, I wouldn't have run the length of myself.
