Here I am again... turning up everywhere, like a bad penny
This awesome sky was photographed in Wales...!
A short jogette this morning for me... and a good start for my main Quest target, to maintain at least one run per week!
So...
It's the first week of the August Quest - please feel free to join
in with the fun
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I would like to...
Each week, I will put up a new post, so we can chat and see how we are all doing!
Please, folks, do make sure you take care during the bouts of warmer weather....things can really hot up!
Wishing you a wonderful week of safe and happy running! 💥

Hi Floss, lovely pic and looking forward to being Awesome in August☺😉 with you!
Please count me in.
I will join you in your aim to run once a week (a no pressure run) which I have let slide recently....Your post yesterday has given me a new mantra 'Taking the time to run' so hoping to manage this.
I am keeping active with P.E with Joe Wicks on weekdays and flexible and stretched with daily YWA practices.
Walking...some longer ones at speed with Mr BBR 🚶♂️🚶♀️some slower pushchair ones to feed the ducks🦆
I am feeling very relaxed and happy, adding in a weekly run will be the icing on the cake!
Hi Floss, they are all available for free viewing on YouTube. We can watch them on our TV screen which is great.
We worked through from the beginning (first one is 23rd March 2020) there are about 78 sessions in these P E with Joe Wicks that he made during the first lockdown.
Huge well done to you! Some great targets there and enjoyable ones too! You are gathering those medals in by the month!!! Looking forward to watching your progress
My plan for August is to get back into the long runs, gradually increasing the distances again. I've made a start with a 10km run today.
I intend to keep up my attendance at parkruns. The two I've been to so far have been challenging.
I hope to keep up the pattern of five runs per week, and do that without injuring myself. I was very protective of myself last month, stopping runs when the effort was getting a little out of my comfort zone. I might push myself a tiny bit further this month, reducing the effort without actually stopping. The other side of this is that I need to pace things better so I don't peak too soon and exhaust myself.
It would be nice to reach the half marathon this month, but I have to be realistic that circumstances may get in the way of that.
I’m actually quite worried that I’m not going to be able to move on Thursday, because my grandsprocket minding schedule means I have to do Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 😲
Oh gosh... that is going to be challenging... the small ones, and I only have the one really do come, full on. My Monday with small one acts a s a full workout day! Good luck! x
Hi Oldfloss. My main target is to continue coming back from injury and feeling good, and that means doing the exercises given to me by the physio 3x a week. If that all feels ok, I can continue my bridge to 10k target - I'm working on the time version, and if I can progress ok I should complete 2 x 50 min and 2 x 55 min runs during Aug - tantalisingly close to that '60 min' badge!! On the shorter runs, I aim to make one run a week a nice easy 30 min run, and a shorter one with some more hills in (at this stage it's 'hill survival' rather than 'hill training'! 😜). Enjoy the running, August questers!
Well done you...I love the idea of, "...a little something every day "!Time for ourselves is so,so important ...After my blip in October . My cognitive therapist told me, it isn't selfish...it's essential. Caring and worrying about family needs full strength...so caring for ourselves is part of it!
Oh pick me, pick me to be in the August Questing team please!
And thank you for crystallising a good running goal for me of once a week... to go with 2x5ks over the month to complete my Wind in the Willows Medal with Ratty and Mr Toad and actually get my hands on the whole thing.
Yoga - 10+ sessions this month to include one online class.
Hi Floss the picture is wonderful. I have the Brighton 10km race on the 12th September 😬. I’ve let my distance running slide in July so I really need to focus on that in the remaining weeks if I hope to beat my personal best on the day.
Having said that, I have a track training session this evening with my club, which is a speed hardcore interval session apparently, 😱 Remind me why I do this….. 😂
Count me in! I’m aiming to do something every day - a Joe Wicks HIIT session, a power walk and a run building it up so I’m fitter and stronger. The Couch to 5k+ stepping stone helped. Not sure if I’m advanced enough for this group so apologies if I’m in the wrong place.
Hi Oldfloss ..I would like to be one of your questers please…I want to maintain my 3 runs a week as I’m doing a virtual challenge of 25 miles in Aug..not a lot I know but I’m squeezing my runs in, life has suddenly got busy…not sure about this ‘returning to work’ lark!!! It’s invading my running life!! I think it’ll be easier with you keeping your eye on me xx
It is enough... and running 3 runs a week, perfect with all else going on in your wonderfully busy life!I shall be watching for your posts, as I hope folk will watch for mine! xx
Hi. Can I join the Quest, please. I'm away a lot in August, so my quest is to maintain 3 runs a week, even if they are very short or beside a walker (my runs are barely above walking speed anyway😂)
Count me in Floss.Taking the time to trot.TTTTT🙈😂.Inspired by your post I did the C25k 30 min standard starting point run.Pleased because I have only run 10 k for June/July following 120k in May.Going to aim at 12k and 2hours continuous run for August.Today is my 78th and this is the moment I am going to ✅my first M and UM.If not now when.Every good wish Floss and to all the forum questors.🏃♀️🏃♂️🌟🌟💪💪🙏🙏👏👏
Hope you're having a lovely birthday Tbae, well done for TTTTT today! 🎂Good luck questing this month, we can all help each other!🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️xxx

Happy, happy birthday, my friend Good luck with those targets... listen to your body and enjoy! x
Hello Oldfloss, how wonderful to have you looking after us this month. A beautiful picture of the sky.
I decided I needed a new focus to work towards 10 miles for the Great South Run in October. So I have started the Nike Running Coach HM plan thanks to recommendations from linda9389 and cheekychipmunks . I don’t intend to run that far but it will allow me to tweak the plan to suit life occurrences.
So my quest for August is to keep following the plan.
To run at least 25 Miles for Mind during August in tandem with Sandraj39
Happy questing everyone

All great stuff! A sound target that will be really enjoyable! Those 25 miles in August too Just doing something because it appeals and can be tweaked to suit life. is a good idea.Yes, that sky, in Wales...pretty amazing...the route for the Carnarfon Race for Life, goes on that road where the photo was taken
Hi Floss! I'm all fired up for an August quest since I've just had a long break from work and feeling rejuvenated. I've been getting back into more regular running so I want to very gradually increase distance again to get back to 10k. I'm at 7k now so I am aiming to do another of that distance this week then keep building using JuJu's plan. All being well I should be hitting 10k mid September!
That sounds to be a very sound plan. Taking it very steady and enjoying the return. I know when I began Couch to 5K again, I determined to just take it gently and really listen to my body, to get back to the comfortable running prior to my blip!
Ju's plan is excellent and I look forward to watching your return to regular running x
I would like to join the August Quest please! My goal is to keep to my HM training plan….on holiday this week (lots of long walks and hills) but back to the plan on Saturday 👍
Hi there Oldfloss. I would like to join your Quest please. I am currently following a Garmin HM plan with Coach Greg in preparation for my first non-virtual HM in September. The plan is based on 4 runs per week but due to life and that spell if extremely hot weather I have not done all of the runs everyweek.
My Quest is to at least attempt every run on the plan in August (unless injured etc) So no more getting home from work and deciding not to go for the midweek ( my "too tired run" danger zone) run! I always feel so much better after running but sometimes knowing that isn't enough to get me out of the door so I am relying on the Quest for that extra push.
A big thankyou for hosting and happy Questing to you Oldfloss and all the best to my fellow Questers.

We can push when need be, and having folk watching for your running reports, does give you an extra boost. Plus, the support here is so helpful too. The marathon and HM forum too is a super place to be, if you are planning for a HM. I know I got amazing support there
Life and the weather does make things very difficult; I find setting my stuff out in advance, and planning my route is always a good thing. Plus, a small treat at the end of each week ?
I shall watch for your posts and give you a nudge if I don't find you x
Bootcamp went really well 😀 two other (much younger) ladies started today too, so we were all at roughly the same level. I have a new favourite workout piece of equipment in the ‘ski’ machine, but did have to ask for advice with the rower as - historically - they have always given me a bad back.
Currently feeling exercised but not like I’ve overdone anything, so gentle run planned for this afternoon, because if I leave it till tomorrow I may not be able to walk 🤣
Hello OF, nice to see you back in the madhouse .....
As you may have picked up, I've set myself long term goals for gentle improvement in a number of areas, so my ongoing Quest is to colour in more of the attached chart. This currently shows in bright green July achievements, in bright yellow July partial achievements, and in pale green milestones achieved earlier in the year. The last success in the last week of July was to push my distance at Great South Run race pace (5'30"/k) out to 14k.
So once I've posted this, I'll change the bright green and yellow boxes to pale green and yellow, so any bright blobs you see in future iterations will be August successes.
Looks like you're heading in the right direction to me! Rightwards...Good word !This all looks very organised and professional ...I shall watch out for your posts!
Hi 👋 My quest to reach 10 miles continues this month. I know I won’t get there in a month but the positive thing is I’m starting at 10k this month. I’ve got one more 10k to run this week and I’ve finished ‘10 weeks to go’ of the NRC HM plan 🙌🙌. I’m hoping to get to at least 8 miles by the end of the month but I’m still running with my friend so have to take her into account too when pushing up the miles. Happy questing 😊
Hi oldfloss, my quest is to run 3 times a week but to keep them light coz this humidity (my current nemesis!) is making it v difficult for me. I’m hoping for an impressive increase in speed in the autumn 🤞😳

Simple and achievable...Great targets...you are goings to do this..enjoy!
Bit late to the party, but… my July target was to run 100k in the month and I managed 110k, my target is to equal that in August. Up to 15k so far already, with a 5k PR this morning to boot…! I’ve got a week away during the month so I’ll be mixing up the routes a bit too, wish me luck!
Never too late and that target seems to have got off to a good start too New routes are always fun, can be challenging but always an adventure Will watch for your posts
