Hello Questers! Photo to come, it won’t let me upload one ☹️.

It's the first week of the June Quest - please feel free to join

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

★ To run three times a week

★ To slowly increase distance

★ To train for a specific race

★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate for you to download and keep!!

Wishing you a wonderful week of running! 💥

My quest for this month is to build back up to 7-10km comfortably now that I have recovered from my HM. Slow and steady increases.

Happy running everyone.

Count me in.

I want to increase my run to 5k, running 2-3 times a week, & do s&f twice a week.

A new month, new motivation 😀

Ok, you've hooked me in. I want to run 10k at least once a week. I can do 8 and over already, but have had a niggling knee problem that stopped me running for a bit, and getting back to longer distances has taken a while.

Take it nice and steady with being at 8km,I. Sure you will get there by the end of the month, look after that knee. Rfc x

Thanks rfc. In fact shortly after I wrote my post, I broke a bit off a tooth. Second time in 2 weeks. I was so determined to prove I wasn't quite crumbling ( or maybe that not all of me was anyway) that I went out and ran just over 11 k to take my mind off the tooth. Have to look for the positives in ageing I suppose!

OK RFC, to keep my feet to the fire, this month's targets en route to the Great South Run:

Long slow run of 16k (up from 14), plus the extra 90 metres to make it 10 miles (and keep up with cheekychipmunks :-) );

Race pace run of 12K (up from 11), target time 72 mins, stretch target 66;

2k on the treadmill at 13 kph (up from 1500m), maybe 1 x 2k, maybe 2 x 1k in the same run.

After last month, if I get close to my stretch target for no 2, I'll be very happy.

Oh, and Parkrun tourism at Poole this Saturday for a bit of light relief :-)

Onwards and upwards!!

Sounds like a detailed plan, good luck with those longer runs. You will be ready for your event when it comes round with all your training 😀. Rfc x

I’m very happy that I’m coming back to strength. I did a nice 10km in the forest today. My plan for June is to do a couple of 8kms ( one is a race in France) a 9km and another 10km. I love Trail running and am getting better at hilly terrain. 👍 I do need to work on my flexibility too so I’m planning on doing more stretching and balance exercises.

That sounds like a nice trail run, I do like a bit of running tourism. There are quite a few of us working on our stretch work over on the strength and flex forum 😀. Rfc x

Hi Rfc, Count me in please 🙋...

I have joined a challenge on Strava to Race to the Moon🚀...its the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 and the aim is to run 50 miles in 50 days... (so we have until about 20th July)...

I have also joined the 5k and 10k trophy challenges on Strava for June.

I have my new activity chart up on the fridge and aim to run twice a week, plus go walking, do pilates/keep fit videos on two days and do knee strenghening exercises.

I am finding ticking things off on my chart helps to motivate me, and think it would be good to have a reward when I get 5 ticks in a row (say, for 5 Monday runs) a treat that is not food related 😆....any ideas welcome!

I have also joined the challenge on the Strength and Flex forum so I can chat about my exercise progress there...

I have started my race to the moon with a two mile run yesterday... and will be doing at least one 10k this month to help me on my way...🚀

Its great to have the Quest to share our goals and put down our intentions.

Happy Questing everyone!😊x

Hi thanks for the opportunity. I'd like to join the Quest please, as a steady 36min 5k runner I am committing to one session of interval training every week to improve my pace. Good luck everyone.

That will help with your pace. It is one of the best ways to increase your speed, good luck. Rfc x

Hi! I’d love to complete the 10k milestone.... can you help me get there?

I’m doing the5k 2-3 times a week and would love to push myself further ( completed whole 9 weeks on treadmill, only done 3 outdoor runs and find it so much harder- tend to complete them in 29 mins !) but want to get stronger and better! X

Realfoodieclub profile image
RealfoodieclubGraduate10 in reply to Nubird

Take your increase slow and steady. You will have to allow yourself some time to transition from treadmill to outdoor too as the body reacts slightly differently to each exercise. You will get to you 10km. Good luck. Rfc x
