Another 60min morning run on my first day of vacation, this time armed with water.
And I had a couple of first experiences that are small, but they felt great:
- First outing of my new 3/4 running leggings: I am working my way up to shorts. 🤣 They have some side leg pockets with zips which really helped with the stashing of nose tissues. Feeling really summery in this outfit (also wore sleeveless tunics), especially leaving the V1 vest at home, as I used me hydration belt and did take water with me this time.
- First time running to an audiobook: I had started to read the latest Lee Child book as paperback, but then thought I check out on our library subscription service and they had it available to borrow and download. So I happily ran to Blue Moon! 😃
Also nature is going rampantly wild on all of my routes, so the fairy house (see picture) at this rate will be completely overgrown next week!
Happy running everyone!

Leggings and pockets: For a small phone it’s probably big enough, but not sure. I have a big one, so I take a belt or vest.
But the leggings have an additional back pocket at belt level, but which I probably will not use. (Leggings were from Decathlon, my first buy from them)
I’ve got Decathlon 3/4 leggings too, aren’t they great? So comfortable and maybe I’m kidding myself but they’re even reasonably flattering! And pockets as well!!
Look at that fairy door disappearing into the vegetation!! How lovely! Glad you like the leggings and interested to hear about the hydration belt. Am going to research them!
Enjoyed your post with the fairy houses. Never seen that before. 2 days just about covered up. Never tried can audiobook but listen to podcasts on Spotify. I listen to Jenny falconer run pod and this morning listened to “her spirit podcast Louise minchin and Annie Emmerson interview carol kirkwood weather presenter. I’m still in leggings yet maybe shorts end of This week😊.
Yeah… I can’t seem to forget them now (ticks). Discussing this with hubby, he said that ticks mostly appear in areas where there is a lot of cattle or animals. So I am not sure that is true. Can they appear on trails where there are no cow fields anywhere near?!
I doubt it, but did wonder. And what are the safeguards against ticks (bar long legged leggings and full caps 🧢)?
2 years ago, our cat (which was not yet our cat back then) regularly had ticks in her ears from lying in the high grass next to our garden at the coast. It's a sort of camping ground with fixed ground for each family with chalets on them. So no cows, just neatly trimmed gardens (except for the 'garden' next to us which was abandoned back then).
I seem to remember from my degree 40+ years ago that ticks live in grass and run to the tops of the stalks in warm weather as this makes it easier for them to jump on passing animals (and humans). So it’s a good idea to avoid long grass/undergrowth. If I’m going through long grass I wear long leggings but if it’s short and the weather is warm I’ll go for shorts. Oh. And I check my legs for ticks if I think I may have been exposed, I think they need to be attached for a certain length of time before they can transmit Lymes etc.
