I do not know how I managed this.

Good morning fellow sweaty runners,

I must be mad. Up at 5am for a 6am start to do my second 8k run on B210K. I knew it had to be early, as today is going to be a scorcher, and I really don’t cope well running in the heat.

At my mum’s house in Norwich this weekend, and the lovely lady helped me plot a good, circular 8k Route (she even drove me around it on Thursday so I would be familiar).

At 6am the temp was nice, and the first 6k were enjoyable. Not a soul around, just one other runner who gave me a cheery hello. The last 2k were hellish, as the temperature rose. I really had to fight for every step at the last km. Thank god I remembered to take water; not sure I would have made it otherwise!

Still, I made good time (quicker than my first 8k), so something’s working! Now for a day of family and lolling!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Love

Yay well done Sadie!!! Yep getting up early is definitely the key atm. My 8k tomorrow but I’m going to have to go at 5 so I’m back in time to get ready for work/get son up for school. 😩

You’re setting a brilliant example to me - thanks. Enjoy your day. xx😎

Good God Ripcurlrana71 5am!! I am in awe of your commitment! Short run for me tomorrow but I don't think they'll be any chance it will be that early :-)

There is no way I can trust my son to get himself up at 6ish so need to be back by then. Being the 8k too I need to give myself 1 hour for the round trip and run! Can’t stand doing continuous loops of my roads to get it done so off to the beach. I’m a morning person anyway so only an hour earlier than I’d normally be up. 😬😬😬

I am definitely not a morning person so will have to just brave the heat! I know what you mean about running round roads - I'd much rather take myself off to the seafront or the park even though it adds a bit of time x

Hence the 5am. 😊 I passed the bin men 3 times on my last run and it’s not a pleasant smell in this heat!! 🤢🤮x

Eurrrgghh 🤢 It's bad enough running past smokers (and I used to smoke!) but that must be deeply unpleasant x

And it’s always on the uphill bit and you know how much I hate them!! 😂😂😂 x

Aw, thanks lovely Ripcurly. 😁 And you are supermum, getting your run in before getting son up for school/getting yourself ready for work! But, you will be grateful for the (relative) coolness. Good luck for your 8k! Though you won’t need it, you are ready. Take it slow and steady now. 🏃‍♀️👏😘 xx

We just have to get it done don’t we? Tbh one hours peace by the beach (huffing and puffing!!) is a great start to the day before waking up sulky teen. 😁 xx

Thanks MC my love. It was good to do the 8k again, just to make sure the last one wasn’t a flook! 😂😂😂 Have yourself a lovely day too - this weather is glorious (even though it is making running hard!) xxx

Thank you Mitch! 😘 The key to getting up early is going to bed early! I was in bed by 9:45pm last night - rock n roll! x

Wow Sadie - I've got to learn from you. Both on the early running front and the visiting parents front. Nice work! Happy birthday Sadie's mum :)

Thanks icklegui! To be fair, I find getting up early easy as am a true lark and am at my best between 5am and 8am. (Downside is nodding off by 9:30pm, no fun for my partner!) And I won’t lie, I am quite rubbish for visiting my folks - but as it was a significant birthday, I couldn’t miss seeing her! x
