We ran this morning

Decided to try jeffing, ran half a k slow to warm up, ran half a k fast then walked a few minutes to recover and off again, the sun shone the sky was blue the breeze was cool

At about 3k i felt a twinge in my right calf, walked a bit and off i went ... ouch.... left calf shouted at me so i turned and walked back to the car,

First kilometer 7.35 😀possibly my fastest, willow was seconds behind me,

3k in 24. something minutes

Conclusion, jeffing sure does work but i pushed too hard and got achy calves so it will probably be back to slow plodding with the odd sprint to make me feel good

Have a good weekend runners 🏃‍♀️

Nice run for you today W&S, I have never used jeffing, isn't that another way to run slow and steady, good luck for further runs over the next few days, enjoy your weekend.

It’s run fast walk recover, unless I’ve misunderstood Al

I’m working but there is no place better for love fun and hugs unless it’s at home

Very interesting, Thankyou!

Sensible choice don't be antagonising those calves 👍

Sounds like a great run except for those achy calves 😳 I've never tried jeffing but I've heard good things about it, I must give it a go! Hope your calves don't give you any more trouble. Have a great weekend 😊

I Jeff all the time. It’s run at a regular pace then walk for a bit. I run at the moment for 2.45 minutes then walk for 45 seconds. Apparently 30 seconds walking is the optimum. But it’s really whatever suites you. For me it means I recover quicker and can go further.

Take care then. If you want a sensible explanation google Jeff Galloway. It looks complicated but since I came out from shielding I’ve slowly been adjusting the ratio using his basic principle and it feels like normal now and I’m no where near as exhausted as I used to be at the end of the week. 😊🏃🏻‍♀️

I've tried some interval runs, but I've never tried Jeffing.

As I understand it, the runs should be at your usual comfortable pace for the prescribed distance, with walking breaks in-between.

Anyway, a nice run for you apart from the calves. I hope they are not too sore.

And there is nothing wrong with slow plodding 😁🐌

I jeff now for most runs (I have to, I'm following his Garmin HM training plan) and it's very surprising how I can actually go faster overall when I jeff than when I run non stop. Those walking breaks really do the business. I still do a long continuous run every fortnight, just because I don't want to lose the ability to do so.

I am a bit confused because keep reading that jeffing increases overall speed so we sped up and my calves protested

Interesting hearing about Jeffing. Do hope your calves recover quickly 🤞

Thanks, I’ve been looking at calf strengthening exercises and skipping is one and i can’t do it at the moment so i suspect only short gentle runs for a while and let it heal and do what strengthening i can, it seems to be my weak point i first hurt my left calf boxing day, i have a 4 day off weekend next week and we’ve been talking about a very slow 10k

Well done WillowandSola!! 🤩🤩🤩 I agree it Jeffing works!

I am so in love with Jeffing, but I’m not sure if I can do a full run without the walk now! 🥴 I trust our Jeff knows it’s me running and knows what he’s talking about 😬!

Love that photo!! Those clouds look like cotton wool! 😁❤️

I have a Jeffing Run Walk 3:1 cd, but also like the Podrunner Bass10 and Skyline programmes
