Windy run

Hiya,

Today I chipped in a run in between rain showers. It was very windy (40 km/h according to my Garmin and the weather report), but I had equipped myself well. A thin long sleeved shirt with a thin short sleeved shirt over it. Perfect to keep the chest safe from the wind.

I ran a route I have not run before (have a week off and am at the coast), but have walked often. Normally when at the coast I run between the fields with cows and sheep. But there are not a lot of people here at the moment and a murderer is on the loose 3 villages further, so I did not feel up to running on my own in between fields.

So I went the other way, towards the main road where there are cars and more people. I ran part of the road towards the nearest town and crossed the road to the marina. Passing the marina I first thought to take the gravel road back next to the shrubs and trees of the dunes, but the beach was calling to me and how often do you get the chance to run on the beach?

I ran on the harder part of the beach, near the water. But it was WINDY! I think it was more than 40 km/h on the beach itself. In the middle between the 2 nearby towns, I had to crawl up the high dunes to get to the stairs leading me back home. I could not run that part, my heart rate went into red even just crawling up the dunes. Normally it is mainly stairs, but (soft) sand had taken over the stairs.

Finally over the dunes, I crossed the wreck-wood bridge crossing the main road and I could run again. Back home I finished with 5,44 km in 50 minutes.

Very happy to have been able to chip a run in between rain showers and such in interesting one too. Oh don't mind the pic of me, it was taken on the beach in heavy wind...

Cheers, Evy

Great run and scenery. I would be running opposite direction as well if murderer going about. Lovely setting with marina. It’s hard to run on sand on your legs more tiring. Shame about the wind. 5.44 km a good run as well . Was that with your Jeffing? Enjoy your break😊

Yes, it is with Jeffing 4:30 min running + 0:30 walking. Except on the beach, I stopped to take some pics and also had to crawl up on the dune and stairs. Might do this route again, but then use the gravel path next to the dunes instead of via the beach.

Sounds like a great route and looks great! Looks very inviting scenery! And great to try out different consistencies of underfooting, sand surely exercised your legs well!

The sand did something for sure 😂
