Better run today

Since my disastrous attempt on Thursday and then chiro visit on Friday, I put off running yesterday as I was still a bit achey from being manipulated. Shame really as once I was showered and dressed I felt fine. Then last night I spent about 4 hours in the middle of the night in agony with my hip.. no idea what brought it on again, much worse than usual.. so I slept in then till 9.30. So much for my early “miss all the people “ run. But I put off dressing til I’d had a drink and some breakfast .. then I did some stretches and thought “ do you know what? I feel ok!! Let’s do this!”

So before I could change my mind I trotted upstairs put on a nice lime green shortsleeved Teeshirt and my chalkboard cats capris and off I went. At the back of my mind was my disastrous 16 minute struggle on Thursday but I decided to forget that and plod on. My breathing was a bit laboured. I cannot get enough air in through my nose and then my throat gets dry. But I did my warm up walk and then started running. I tried not to start too fast which is a usually thing for me and managed to run continuously for the first 10 mins... already an improvement on Thursday. Then I walked for a minute and off again for another 10 minutes.

Annoyingly I struggle to breathe for half my run and my legs are fine, then my breathing gets better but my legs are tired. I am always seeing young runners and even older ones skipping past me , lightly placing their feet down and lifting their knees up, whereas my feet barely leave the ground and I always feel like I’m thumping my feet down.

Anyway long story short I ran for 5k in 45 mins. No record.. no PB .. but I’m pleased I went out there and what a beautiful morning it is

Happy running

That sounded a good solid 5k. After having that hip pain you did brilliantly!

Well my chiro thinks she can help me with that so I am religiously doing the exercises she has given me

Well done limberlou. That sounds like a great run. Funny that you had that trouble in the night but at least it doesn't seem to be interfering in your running. 😊

I get it most nights but was worse that night. Tight IT Band rubs on the hip bursa and causes Sciatica-like pain and pins and needles down my leg. Flipping nuisance as it’s better once I’m up and moving again.

That sounds miserable and must affect your sleeping. 😒 let's hope your chiropractor and exercises sort it out.
