Week 2 - 6km run

I didn't do parkrun on Saturday as I wanted to get my 6km run in this weekend so did this on Sunday afternoon as work is going to make it tough to fit my runs in this week.

I plotted a route from my house that would cover 7km as I know I do 0.5km in my warm up walk and off I went. The sun was shining but the air was cool and I did a route I hadn't ran before which was really nice however there was a sneaky hill that I hadn't realised. I tried to not worry about the pace and instead was happy that my breathing was steady and my legs kept moving although they were really unhappy over the last km and felt VERY heavy but I think too many hours driving up and down the motorways may have caused this.

Run completed in 40 mins and 51 seconds and 97% my heart rate was in zone 3 so pretty proud of that :)

Tonight I am going to do my 5km run, going to fit in my 3km run on Thursday morning while I am over in Belfast and then on Saturday I am going to volunteer at Parkrun then do my 7km run of week 3.

Happy running folks :)

What a fantastic effort, great time and heart rate, mine is always banging top of zone 5. Love the picture of your new grandchild- just beautiful. Enjoy the rest of your week's runs

Great stuff, and quite impressive how you are managing to fit all of this into your busy life.

It is taking quite a bit of organisation at the minute but I am off work from 5th Dec to the 6th Jan so it will be much easier then :)

Thanks Buddy, I am enjoying the sense of satisfaction I get from achieving each new run and have found that my pace is very comfortable for me.

Well done and great time! I need to start planning routes a bit more carefully now that the distances are going up. Do you use an app?

I use strava to plot my routes and find it really simple to use which is the main thing. I thought my time was really slow but even on shorter runs I don't seem to be able to go any faster as I don't like getting out of breath lol
