A 3.5K Short Run Day

And a local leg end 🀣

So today was a planned short run day , so went out around 10:20 it was sunny and warm so shorts and t-shirt were just right πŸ‘

I'm trying to do a mix of short, 5K and a longer run so after Wednesday's 10k decided to make this the short .

Didn't know if to make it short and quicker or short and steady but decided on the steady .

I still don't want to risk problems after my recent hip niggles

I'm pleased to say there were no aches or niggles after the 10k and this run today was also fine so fingers crossed 🀞

I thought I'd do a Zombie run today just for a change , I'm not sure how long the run was for but I stopped it after 3.5K

Got to say the Zombie mission today was rather boring 😐 ahh well

Happy running VRB'S πŸ˜πŸƒπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Well done, Ian. Perfect positive splits, too πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘ I know that works well for you!

And well done for taking care and going on a shorter run today after your 10K success.

I so nearly wore my shorts, but wasn’t sure if the world is ready for my white legs πŸ˜‚. Don’t know why I worried. The world would have been more amused at the fact I was wearing my t-shirt inside out. But I didn’t see anyone anyway.

Haha, I'm like that with the shorts as well , skinny white legs πŸ€£πŸƒHaha t shirt inside out 😁

The positive splits just seem to happen to be honest !

Although here's one for you , take a look at these splits πŸ€”

Wow, that’s consistent running! I’ll take a virtual bet that you couldn’t do that again πŸ˜‚

I hope you evaded those Zombies, I must say some of the ones i’ve run are a bit boring but nice for a change every so often, I did NRC 20 min run today and loved it Enjoy the rest of your day

Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Yes, it was only my 2nd zombie run so perhaps shouldn't be too critical 😁Oh, I'll have a look at the NRC 20 min for future ref πŸ˜πŸ‘

I’ve had NRC app for a while but today was my first and loved it, it was the 20 minute starter run and not a step was walked

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Oh, if your new to using the NRC there are some really good motivational mindfulness runs with Andy from headspace πŸ‘

Yes I’ve seen them πŸ˜€I’m like a kid with a new toy πŸ˜‚ so maybe it’s lucky I am going to work otherwise i’d want to go again

After 2 years running I think I can probably fit in a short run most days, Tuesday I’m working early though so will take that as a rest day and maybe Thursday as Friday I’m off so plan a longer run

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Haha yes, I'm sure you can πŸ˜πŸ‘It's just been 11 months for me so I still think in terms of rest days 😁

SueAppleRun profile image

I have been having 5 or 6 rest days a week so will be taking it steady but want to increase a little at a time

Sounds like a fab run and the perfect antidote to the long mid week run. And a local leg to boot! What’s not to like. I usually do a longer run on Sunday but like you, have a few niggles, so kept it shorter today. I haven’t tried a zombie run - I’m kind of addicted to the NRC, but may give it a whirl at a later date. The best thing about a short run is you actually have the energy to do other things - or maybe that’s just me, the longer ones wipe me out! Well done Ian! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸ˜„

Thank you , and yes I tend to use the NRC app more than the Zombie app, but it's good to mix them up a bit .I would normally prefer a longer run on a weekend as well but Wednesday's 10k was completely unplanned 🀣

Perhaps I'll do a 5k midweek and a longer one next weekend 😁

Nice splits Ian! Shame about the zombie run. I've only tried that once.

Nice if your looking for positive splits !I wasen't , they just seem to come out like that 🀣

Yes, good job I had music as the zombie run was boring !

Well done and good that there are no niggles and that after a 10K and this run too. I guess that does mean it's not by chance there are no niggles, but that they are properly healed most likely.

Never tried zombie run, but even the NRC runs aren't my cup of tea, too much talking in them. So I think zombie run wouldn't be for me either. Plus, I'm scared of zombies, hahaha.

Thanks, and yes I'm encouraged by those 2 niggle free runs 🀞Haha as you say , sounds like the zombie runs are not for you then πŸ˜‚

Glad all the niggles are behaving themselves, the shorter distance should help, it's mad really, cant remember when i did less than 5k, probably quite a while ago now, would never have thought i'd ever class that as a short run!! 🀣

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Yes, I hope I'm out of the woods now !I never used to do anything shorter than 5k until recently but since the hip issue, the occasional shorter one has helped .

So for now I will stick to a short run, a 5k and a longer run 😁

Sounds a good plan, hope that niggle stays away!! 🀞
