Run 14/03 - 55 minutes

Hiya,

Today was my long run of the week and for the first time 55 minutes in my slow increase to 60 minutes. It has been raining with lightning and thunder the past day, but it was dry now so I took advantage of it and out I went, nibbling a small jelly candy for energy.

Slow and steady, slow and steady. I kept repeating this, as the las runs I ran too fast. I did not put on music, wanted to just enjoy my run. Every walking break (I Jeff 04:30 / 00:30) though I checked my average pace on my watch and that kept being around 8:50 min/km which I found ok. I could also keep my cadence more or less consistent, the run felt good.

At about 26 minutes though my legs started to feel tired. Somewhere around 40 minutes I nibbled another jelly candy for energy, having read some people do this. At about 46 minutes I felt as if I had lead weights strapped to my legs, but I kept going. And then the buzzer that my intervals were done buzzed, I turned of my watch and 55 minutes was dusted and done!

6,26 km with an average pace of 8:47 min/km (6,8 km/h), I am very satisfied with these stats and with the fact that I was able to run and finish 55 minutes! And despite the heavy leaden legs (might be the water intake as I have drunk slightly less the past 2 days), I liked the run very much. So happy I did it.

That brings my Mount Kilimanjaro challenge to 9,76 km of 97,1 km and is another 6,26 km added to the COGH challenge.

Next weekend is another 55 minutes and the weekend after it is... 60!!

Cheers, Evy

I did enjoy it. It is so strange that when I ran 5 years ago that I hated it so much and that now I enjoy running so much. On to more!
