I’m a runner on a recovery mission and my gremlins are more like giant monsters, making it very dark as I contemplate getting my kit on 🌒, turning up the volume on the rain outside 🌧, providing movies 🎥 of putting your feet up 🦶 or a lot more minutes in bed 🛌! And later might be better! 🥴
But....I know that later may be never and that’s a journey I’ve been on before. A day turns into a week, then several more behind that. I know running isn’t a punishment, far from it. So apologies if I’m making it sound that way! 😳 I’m on a new journey now which doesn’t involve having the perfect conditions to get out there. It’s appreciating the run whatever the weather. This winter, I want to be running 🏃🏽♀️ right through. I’m doing this for me and maybe I’ll get stronger and better too.
Today was kind of tough! I didn’t want to do 30 minutes out there in the rain, running around the field 🤭, but I just kept going. On my last lap, I was thinking this field is far too boring! Nothing really to see. If I don’t go to my little local park with the surrounding field, it means a drive and there’s not quite enough time to fit it all in on a weekday.
But, as I continue to run, I spot 50p.....that made me smile 😃! My reward! 🙌🏽! In a pretty large field, running on uneven grass and through some pools of water, I find 50p! And it’s a 2018 coin too! The year I started C25K. I think that will now be my lucky coin! 🍀 😁
I did it! I got out there and I slayed those gremlins today! There are better rewards when I go out!! 😉!

So glad you got out Fab! And look what happened too! I remember what a friend said to me once, that if you do nothing then nothing happens, only when you get out there will you find adventures. It may only be 50p but it means the world this morning 😀👍

It never feels easy when you start running in torrential rain but once you’re wet, you’re wet and if we waited for nice weather all the time we’d never get out!

Thanks so much Irishprincess! 🤗 It was a great find! Strangely, my find symbolises so much of my running journey. My being fabulous for 50 mission started in 2018, I was 50 in July this year and did my graduation Runniversary run on my birthday. My journey is stamped all over that 50p coin. 🙌🏽🤩❤️
When I saw your photos I thought the idea was that you’d done a 50p-shaped run!! Must be fate!! You’re not the only one to lapse over last winter so I’ll join you in a pledge to get out there in all weathers and every week. My daughter is just starting a new job with 12 hour shifts so childcare will be VERY intense for 5 days but then she has 5 days off so 🤞🏻that will allow for more running as I’m only out once a week just now (currently kids 8.30 - 17.30 every weekday). We can do this!! Glad the 👿👿lost today.

Lovely post Fabulous450! Think I’ll take a leaf out of your book - I’ve been fortunate on my C25K journey to be able to pick my running days so they’ve mainly been dry 🥴! But I think if I really want to call myself a runner, I need to get out there in all weathers don’t I?! And if there are riches to be found as well along the way - well that’s even better! May your 50p bring you luck!

But, I do think that the weather is the one thing we can’t control and if I let it put me off again this year, I won’t get the benefits of clearing my mind and increasing my energy levels! I really do feel noticeably different about the day ahead after a morning run. Now that’s well worth a soaking! 😂❤️

It’s so hard Fabulous450 ....like you say the reasons not to go get louder and louder the more you think about going...but you, like you do, pushed the noises aside and went, determined to run 30 mins...and I’m sure after even 10 mins you wanted to pack in, but you didn’t, even if you’d have had to drag yourself round (I’m sure that’s how it felt at times?) you did it...and you found some treasure too! I would run with that coin in my pocket from now on Fab, somebody, somewhere, I think you know who, sent that to give you a message...a message to tell you you’re doing the right thing...we all know how much you love running deep down...if I could throw some treasure to keep you getting out there I’d get my pirate outfit on and empty out my treasure chest!! You’re so right about dragging myself around there, because it was tough today, even after the first 10 minutes, but I knew I had to keep going this time. And yes, I do think that random 50p was probably not so random! It has messages all over it in relation to running! And the sense of calm afterwards has been so amazingly sweet! It’s like a silent hug....and a “everything is going to be alright”! That means so much!

This is lovely, I have a penny that I found like that on my first run outside in London visiting family. It's gone into the zip pocket on my joggers and has been there ever since - even through the washing machine .
Talismans are useful wherever and in whatever we find them and we decide how they can help us.
