Had no idea I had run for so long

I ran for over 44 minutes on my dreadmill. (Couldnt face the wind and rain tonight). Not very fast: mine is small so if I stretch my legs, I run off the end or over the side. But the point was I was neither out of breath nor tired. This is the longest I've run since beginning c25k and the furthest. I was determined not to keep looking at the elapsed time till I began to tire...but that happened after 44 minutes, I just hadn't realised how long I had been running, and to be honest I could have kept going. It's amazing how much I have in reserve when I'm not slogging up and down hill.

Well done you, at this time of year any run is a good one and that’s a good time commitment.

Thank you. I'm pleased to have broken the 4k ceiling, even if it was slowly. 5k is beginning to look possible.

in reply to

it is very doable and you will do it. Without wishing to add to your overdraft, what running gear will you buy as celebration when you get to 5k?

Aaaaggghhh! Temptress! I'm about to ditch the too tight Brooks and get another pair of running shoes, so that will be my reward in advance. I'm going into Up and Running on Saturday to have another gait test and be fitted with the shoes, so who knows what goodies might sing their siren song. I need a running belt ... no i don't ... yes I do, I do!

I want a new warmer top - but when I reach 15k I am going out and buying a completely matching outfit, as my 'eclectic' mix and match affair is looking more bag lady than older chic!

Good luck with the shoes :)

I’m a bag lady in Lycra. I have warm tops and summer ones thanks to my daughter getting them for my birthday. Matching is quite hard, unless you go for all black or Claire’s unicorns. I will be interested to see what you get. Pictures please 😊

okay first the small effort of hitting 15k... Probably by end January, as I need to do really long runs to meet my Alzheimers Challenge..., but you're on

in reply to

I wonder of I will ever hit 15k with my dodgy breathing and great age. Hang on, yes, yes I will!

in reply to

dodgy knees here, no coordination, spacial awareness zilch. If I can you will!

and there you are working towards 15k. You are amazing! X

Well done Flick! You are a mean, lean, treadmill machine!

in reply to Lordi

LOL. I hate the bloody dreadmill! Why anyone would use one in preference to outside if they didnt have to is beyond me. Still, if I didnt have it, I wouldnt hav been running at all recently with all the snow and ice we’ve had.

"You were lucky!" I 'ad t' run underground in a Batcave...I'd lay awake at nights dreaming of a treadmill!

Honestly, I would rather run round that than on the dreadmill. At least you can stretch out. Dont forget Im the woman who ran round the ground floor of her house for 25 minutes. Give me the batcave any day 😊

Sure! Just kidding. I managed to get outside here in Finland for the last few weeks due to the (very) unseasonable weather (well above zero). But now we have a blizzard at the mo and are promised minus 14 next week. So it's down in the bunker for me for the next month or so. Might venture out on a nice sunny frosty day with my new trail shoes tho (first NY resolution smashed).

Frost is lovely as long as it isnt slippery u underfoot. It must be a amazing living where you do.

Cold, snowy and dark in the winter. Light (20hr days) and mosquitos in the summer Paradise!

That's amazing, I really don't know how you stayed on that for so long without ending yourself. I really can't contemplate more than 10 mins on one of them.

Must feel good to be getting nearer to the 5k, you'd definitely be able to do that outside on some flatter terrain.

How did you find the fenix reported distance etc compared to the treadmill?, I thought it may be all over the shop without the benefit of gps(ie not moving).

I hate dreadmills with a passion, but I'm very determined not to miss a run because of weather. Usually i will go out in anything but ice and snow, but i felt cold all day today and couldn't face it. I don't take any notice of any of the dreadmill readings except time, I just get the data from my watch, so I'm not sure how it compares..

Yes it must be handy to have that as a backup. I could run down the gym but as said I haven't been able to countenance more than 10 mins. I find I get too hot, even if I find one with an air vent blowing full pelt.

I think I share your determination to run regardless though, I can't start to think what would happen if I was to miss a run day :O
