Still waiting for mine HeavyFoot but one of my work colleagues felt rotten after hers for a day or two. Others have reported nothing. I am sure you will feel better soon and will be back pounding the pavements again!🤞🙂
Hi hope you recover soon, I felt incredibly tired for a few days with general aches and pains and splitting headache so was taking regular pain pills for a few days
It wasn’t enough to stop me going to work but was a tough few days, some of my colleagues just had a sore arm and a few had dizzy spells as well as the above but having read all about it this isn’t unusual and i think well worth having, I did read somewhere that early indications are that the Oxford vaccine reduces transmission and that would be amazing
Jab Friday, flu symptoms 6 hours later (shivers, achey limbs, headache) giving an unpleasant feverish night. Slow recovery since, managed a gentle 5k with Dexy this afternoon, may feel like making a bit more of an effort by Thursday/Friday hopefully.
But very happy I’ve been done 👍 and hoping my experience was on the grim side of normal.
Hi HeavyFoot, me and hubby has ours yesterday. I have a sore arm and splitting headache all day (not helped by 4 yr old grandson!) Hubby has felt nauseous and had to lie down this afternoon (leaving me with grandson!) Hope we feel better tomorrow. Hope you do too.
People I know who has Pfizer have been fine and Astra not but it’s hardly a huge sample! I hope you’re ok tomorrow. Definitely worth the short term suffering HF 👌🏽
Mr Speedy had the Oxford vaccine last week and was really quite poorly. I would blame it on man flu, but it's not like him. I'm booked for the Pfizer one next week. I'm hoping for no side effects, but I'm just grateful to be offered it. 😊
One thought going round is that if you have symptoms after receiving the first COVID jab, you may already have antibodies to it.
(Some may remember the BCG/TB "stamp" test during their school years. Those who reacted already had antibodies and didn't get the jab. Those who didn't got the TB jab.)
I had mine on Friday morning. Worked (spreadsheet stuff) on Friday. Sore arm on Friday evening and Saturday. Felt tired Saturday but ok. Did a 5k on Sunday.l, felt great. Worked on Monday. Woke up today with a headache and flu like symptoms and couldn't work and went back to bed for 2 hours. I am a slow runner and clearly slow to react to the vaccine (Pfizer). Feel much better now. Hope that's it now. Might go out to run tomorrow or more likely Thursday. Better than Covid, I agree. My mate was ill for 6 weeks with it. He is 57 like me. I got bumped up the queue I think due to my asthma. It is well controlled and even better since I started running, but 6 years ago I was sick with pneumonia for two months. So I didn't want to go through anything like that again.
I hope it won't be long before you can get back to normal after your first Covid 19 vaccination, I got mine on Saturday morning (Oxford), was warned by the nurse who gave me it that I might get a sore arm and feel a little cold later in the day or for a few days.
Two hours later I did feel my arm getting a little sore and on Saturday evening felt a little shivery, however, that soon went when I put the heating up a bit and no longer felt cold.
On Sunday I went a 8 Kilometre walk feeling fine but on Monday for a few hours my arm got sore again, since then nothing, I intend to go a short run on Wednesday.
I had the Pfizer jab in December. A very sore arm but nothing that I couldn't cope with. To be fair I also had Covid-19 last March, laid out for 2 weeks, and fatigue and respiratory symptoms, loss of sense of smell lasting for several months after. Even if I knew in advance that I would get worse post jab symptoms I'd still take it.Hope you feel better soon. X
Hmm, we’re talking about going for ours next week (have child on DLA which bumps us up the queue if we want). Think I’ll have to try and get a long run in the morning of the jab or day before in case I’m laid up for a bit with side affects.
I haven't seen reports that are confirmed as serious adverse reactions. I have however seen many critically ill patients, known 3 colleagues end up in ITU and sadly one of those died, only 46, slim no preexisting health conditions.
You're not looking in the right places and you tube/Facebook are closing down anyone speaking out. There are fb pages dedicated to the covid vaccine . Most are moving to parler. It's frightening how they're trying to shut people up (including thousands of doctors and nurses and respiratory specialists).
The Childrens Health Defense is a particularly good source.
I'm respectfully not wishing to get into an anti vax debate, I don't feel this is the forum for it, and I do work in the NHS . It makes me sad that so many people are trying to spread the anti vax message, when lives could be saved, I note that you haven't posted on this forum for 2 years, and yet this is a subject you feel moved to comment on.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but personally I will go with science rather than Facebook or similar.
The people I'm mentioning are real people. Yes. I feel strongly enough to come on here and hopefully at least one person will stop believing the msn and believe the doctors who are risking their careers. The vast majority have not researched. Fact. "They should shut them up"??? Seriously??
Enjoy your witch hunt. All I'm saying is at least have a look before making a decision.
Actually it wasn't me that said they should shut them up, I was respectful of your opinion, and nothing I said can possibly be described as a witch hunt.
One of the people on Ask the experts online is Dr Vernon Coleman who said AIDS was the biggest hoax of the 20th century. Sorry if I was rude. Please check the credentials of these people though & not rely on what they’re saying. Monday’s Panorama was interesting viewing. Stay safe
They should shut them up. Most of the online “experts” have already been struck off or soon will be for misrepresentation of information. If you don’t want the vaccine don’t have it but the vast majority watch or read reputable news sources thankfully.
Well said. My cousins daughter at 27 with no underlying health conditions, not overweight ending up on a ventilator, thank goodness she recovered unlike thousands of others.
I had the Pfizer and only a sore arm and my husband had the Oxford AZ. He had a sore arm for a couple of days and had a headache, nausea and tiredness 6 days after. It appears there are more effects from the Oxford jab and often younger people who have a better immune response. We log every day on the Zoe Study app which is releasing good data from across the country.
I had mine last week. Sore arm and headache for 24 hrs but nothing more thankfully. Paracetamol does the trick. I didn't run for a couple of days though.
I had one at hospital a few wks ago thru my work - only one in the team of 8 reported any effects.
That’s good that there were so few reporting after effects. I can only report my reaction. Sadly, I’m too washed out again this morning to attempt a run but I’m getting my walking boots on, rain or no rain.
Hiya HeavyFoot, hope you’re beginning to feel better.I had mine (Pfizer) yesterday and I’ve had a really sore arm and fatigue for the last 24 hours. Had the best sleep I’ve had in ages though! Just starting to feel better this afternoon. Katnap has had to do the kitten’s Joe Wicks but I’ve done some gentle yoga. Hoping I can get running again in the morning 🤞🤞🤞
I just think we are very privileged to have the opportunity to feel this rubbish for this reason!!
All the best to you TC. And, yes, we’re privileged to have the chance. My dad would have jumped at the opportunity had the damned virus not got to him first.
Now I'm looking forward to my weekend run!! Vax this Friday morning!! I was offered Friday afternoon but thought I would give myself longer before my run! Fingers crossed.
Take care R7. I felt fine (ish) the day afterwards. It was the next day I went downhill. Tentatively, I’m planning a run tomorrow, so I will have taken four days off.
Felt fine post vac apart from very tired over the weekend! Decided to take it easy and Mr Garmin says I am peaking!! Interesting!! Anyway feeling ok now so hoping for a run tomorrow.
I am not yet old enough, I am waiting for group 7 to be called and I look forward to the day it happens. Short term side effects are fairly common but aren’t anything to worry about and shouldn’t put people off. The Zoe COVID symptom study has several million people logging COVID symptoms and now also how they are feeling in the days after having the vaccine. It would appear Pfizer is more strongly associated with a sore arm, and AZ with feeling a bit flu-like. But the best vaccine is the one in your arm. Hope you are back to running soon. And thanks Jell6 for your calm handling of the conspiracy theorist higher up the thread.
Hi there! So glad you’ve had the vax. I had the Oxford AZ vax on Monday morning, and had a whopping headache develop that night, chills and fevers all night. Headache lasted all day Tuesday but I’m feeling fine today and will be running again tomorrow 🏃🏻♀️🙌🏼
Stay safe everyone, spring is just around the corner 🤩
