IC - gutted 😢

Hi everyone! Apologies for the long post... Basically, I did park run on Saturday and realised afterwards that the top of my foot felt quite sore. Thought nothing of it really. Went out for an 8k Sunday and could feel it still wasn’t right straight away. I considered not carrying on, but thought I’m out now so I might as well just keep on going. Ever since Sunday morning my foot has continued feeling a bit sore etc but there’s been no bruising and I’m able to weight bare (uncomfortably) and all that, so I just carried on day to day as normal (10k steps average). I just thought that it’s where my trainers were laced too tight. This evening, I’ve noticed a slight swelling across my foot and it’s dawned on me that I think I’ve done some tendon damage 😩 I tore tendons in the same foot 2 years ago and I know they’re not torn as I couldn’t put any weight on my foot at the time - it was horrendous. So at least it’s not that bad. However the NHS website says to not run for 8 weeks. 8 WEEKS!! How on earth am I going to manage that? I’m supposed to do a 10k event in 3 weeks and a half in October. I’m absolutely gutted 😢

Don’t panic! I would certainly seek medical advice (GP, or sports physio if you don’t mind paying) and in the meantime ice it. It may not be as serious as you’re thinking 🤞🏼But there’s only one way to find out. Good luck and I hope it’s not as bad as you think 🙂

I would go to see a sports physio. I strained a tendon in my foot just over 3 weeks ago and with some ultrasound, exercises and taping, I’ve been cleared to do my HM on Sunday!

How is the foot today?

in reply toLeosmit

Hi Leosmit. Sorry, I missed this. It’s still not 100% but better than it was. No more swelling thankfully. I haven’t run since Sunday and may do a bike session tonight instead. I’m sure the foot will be fine in a week or so 👍🏼

Thank you everyone! I haven’t run since Sunday. Although my foot is still quite tender, it’s better than it was, so I think in a week or so I might be ok to start running again 🙏🏼
