Woke up this morning, the sun was shining and the bitter wind had dropped. I was going to go out late morning but I just couldn't resist.
I've only got a couple of circular routes on the go at the moment as the tracks are barely passable in places and, besides, I've got some nice new shoes which will get dirty in the end but not on their second trip out.
So it was out on an all-road route, through the village and out and round the back. A steady 6k and, although not particularly speedy, I managed not to slow down in the middle for a change. All good.
And now as I look out of my window I see the sun has gone and the bitter wind is back so I'm glad to be sitting in the warm feeling snug and smug

It's a good feeling when you know you've managed to get out in the best part of the day. Sounds like a good run did you manage to keep your shoes clean? Any shoe pics? Thankfully my mud was frozen this morning.
Yep shoes are still clean. Will post a pic next run. I really wanted to get a gait analysis done but got fed up waiting for the end of lockdown. So I went for another pair of Asics gel which have suited me well for the last couple of years.
Well done. Sounds a really nice run. Since I’ve become a weather-watching runner (omg, did I just call myself that?!) Ive noticed many early mornings forecasted ‘bad’ are amazingly ‘good’ before the day settles into the official pattern.
You may be right. I think in the winter you have to take the chance if you see a break in the weather. I don't mind so much if it starts raining mid-run but I hate starting in the rain and I never run if it's too icy.
