Well, the morning started cool and without the forecast frost, for which I was profoundly grateful! Got going at 10am along the old railway line thinking, too late, that I should have started at the other end, to avoid the long slow slog back up the incline on the way back after my turnaround point 🙄.
Once I’d settled into my stride, all was well until crossing the old viaduct and that sneaky, nasty, bitter cold wind sprang up out of nowhere. I suddenly realised I couldn’t feel the tops of my arms because of the cold - just as I hit the start of the uphill climb 😩.
No matter, I was running this in memory of my best mate, and her long battle with cancer. She didn’t get the choice of giving up, so there’s no way I’m going to either. Plodded on to a slow but jubilant finish in 1hr15 mins.
I’m a tortoise but I don’t care - I’m just happy I completed the 10K and raised a bit of cash to help in the fight against the big C.
