Another later run for me today, finally got out and with a βpossibleβ aim for a longer run having plotted an extension to my βnewβ route, it was game on.
At the 2km mark, my left knee felt odd π€ hmm.. itβs not usually that knee that feels odd on a run, I slowed up a little to see if it would settle. It did. Phew!
Dithering lockdown walkers everywhere π so I diverted to a quieter route and pressed on. Ah yes, inclines on this new extended route.. not going to let them derail me, got my arms pumping up those hills. 5km felt good..
6km by the time I hit the private road full of massive craters filled with muddy water and mud everywhere π« Had to slow to a walk as I picked my way through the slimy mud and of course all I could think about was βmy time is going to suffer! Wahhh!β
Hit the dry streets again and with the Bay City Rollers βBye Bye Babyβ belting out in my ears ππ (reminds me of being a kid being allowed to stay up late age 4yrs to watch them on TOTP!!)I enjoyed a slight downhill. Enjoyed it so much, Iβd imagined myself to be approaching 8k when in fact the Garmin buzzed in 7km I was like βerrr...β Well, that gave me a kick up the wotsit, I was off, increased the pace and all was well. I was in such a good rhythm by this stage, I felt I couldβve gone on.. legs were strong, felt good! Runners high got me then π what a great feeling. Tingles down my back.. this is a good run.. yesss, Iβve got this. 10k Iβm coming for you!
The last 2km passed relatively easily π³π³ and before I knew it, Garmin was buzzing me in at 10km so I kept going a bit but then thought better not overdo it so 10.5km it was. My longest run yet, my third 10k and my fastest!! So happy with that π¦π¦ I walked home feeling fairly chuffed with myself, then Chic βGood Timesβ came on and in amongst all this gloom and bad news were all living with at the moment, the fear, despair and anxiety weβre all dealing with.. this was a bright spot I needed. Good times indeed!! Well, for me and this run it was and Iβll take that ππ»
Happy Sunday all x
