Loving the seafront

There were no gremlins, we knew we were going to run, we woke to rain but there was a glimmer of hope on the horizon.

I’m still feeling a little out of sorts, Christmas cheer turns into being slightly delicate a day or two later

We drove to our usual park and looked at the cars lining both sides of the road, unloading dogs children bikes scooters and what else so drove to the seafront, rummaged around in the car and came up with a pound for the ticket machine, not sure how i’ll get a trolley in sainsburys when i go now i’ve used the pound but no matter

Crossed the road by the lights said ready when you are and off we belted, way too fast straight into the wind without a proper warm up, the sea was boiling the sun was shining and we soon slowed right down

And this is what I love about running, being out feeling strong and free

It started to get busier, there’s a narrow bit of the path and people were queuing up to get through so at just under 2k we turned for home, Adam Ant had been belting in my ears and suddenly stopped, so I ran back listening to the drone of cars and crashing waves, when i reached 4k I went down to the edge of the sea to take photos and by the time i staggered back to the path (the storm has thrown the stones up and it’s very steep) Willow had caught me up, we crossed the road together, he went to get the car and I ran to our usual parking place where i got to 5k and Willow picked me up

Home, cup of tea, ooo healthy eating starts today and i’d left a little pile of apples and oranges on the cooker to remind me.....then I turned round and oh dear there was the Christmas cake, so that’s breakfast sorted yum

Happy running everyone

Thank you for the lovely sea photos, I miss the sea so much with no holidays this year 😞It sounds like you both had a good run despite having to change venues. x

I’m really enjoying running along the seafront although looking forward to drier ground because the top of the downs has far reaching views

Well done WillowandSola, we’re so lucky to be able to run by the seaside! I went out later than usual today because of the rotten weather and Storm Bella wreaking havoc overnight.🌪💨☔️

There were so many walkers and runners along the promenade in Bognor!😳 I did my best to avoid them all while doing some interval training🏃‍♂️💪 They must have wondered what this funny bloke was doing, standing still then dashing off, stopping and starting every 30 seconds or so!🤣

That sounds really great David, I do a few run faster intervals then jog along slowly, I suppose now we are all in tier 4 the seafronts will be busier with people meeting outside, i don’t mind dodging people and speeding up to quickly get round groups of people though, I can honestly say now we both enjoy the actual running, for a long time it was more hard work and happy when done Isn’t the weather amazing?

Thanks WillowandSola it was a decent run and I enjoyed it! We had high winds and rain overnight causing the fence to collapse, a leak through the roof and in the conservatory🌪💨☔️ Mum’s going to get some roofers round soon to see what can be done🙂👍

The enjoying it is the important part for me, and when my legs begin to ache to be able to slow down a bit and still keep going is amazing Hope you get the damage sorted it sure was windy in the night

Sounds lovely and beautiful pics too. It's such a lovely day here, but I ran yesterday so just a 2 hour doggie walk for me today.

Ooh lovely run, lovely pics W&S. I've given myself a week off and plan to get out again tomorrow to run by the sea, you have inspired me. It's beautiful. And Christmas cake for breakfast - well you can't throw it away!

It’ll probably take me until easter to finish the christmas cake but i do like it

Ooh. It looks fresh and lovely down by the sea. Well done you two. It’s been a beautiful day for being outdoors. I did a 5k dog walk this morning, just me and Isla in the sunshine. It felt quite mild when I set off but decidedly chillier by the time I reached home. We may get a smattering of snow here tomorrow so that’ll be a run first for me. 🤗

Yes, Xmas cake. I had a thin sliver before going out to exercise today. I have to you know, I have to take my pills with food 😂. Good luck for your healthy eating goal for 2021. I’ll join you. I just have to finish the After Eight’s first 😁

Well done, that’s terrific. Yes, it’s healthier to be lighter, and it feels great. I’m a sugar junky, so I’ll work on that again soon. (I’m always working on it. Sometimes doing better and oftentimes doing worse). I think sugar should be banned. That would fix it!

Sugar is evil but so delicious

Good run for you today, Christmas Cake for breakfast, 😂no, sorry not for me, I hope you enjoyed a piece, you have taken six lovely photos, I went a 11K walk this morning after we had snow during the night, where you are it may snow within the next 12 or 24 hours, that will be something to look forward to.

We so rarely see any snow I need 2.5 k tomorrow to make 20.20 k in 7 days, i think I can squeeze that in then it’s back to work

It must be lovely to run by the sea. Wonderful pics. Everywhere seems really busy with people walking at the moment _ I suppose there is nowhere else for them to go with everything being closed down. I ran a short 4k yesterday so just a slow birdwatching walk with Mr B today. It was lovely.

I’ve at last managed to entice Willow to run along the sea front, it’s great to run together even if one of us runs on faster or for longer, birdwatching sounds a nice peaceful thing to do, there were a lot of cars out today here

Lovely run and great photos! Remind me of the runs down on the south coast, along the prom when we go to stay with my Mum. She lives just one road from the seafront, I love it. Very bracing! I did laugh reading you had Adam Ant blaring in your ears 😂Not just me then! Love a bit of Ant Music to get me going, ideal when that comes on at about the 4km mark and I need to pick my feet up, does the trick everytime. Well done on your run today and shaking off the Christmas excess..although who can resist Christmas cake until it's all gone 😉

I think the cake will last a while, same as all the chocolates i don’t really feel like eating lol South coast is a great place to be 😀
