Hi, I came across this video youtube.com/watch?v=WNDirZr... and then bought his book "The Lost Art of Running" . Shane Benzie makes a lot of sense to me but not sure I can learn new techniques at my age but I am trying. I started running three years ago at the age of 65 and got addicted to running and park runs. This year I've been trying to run more but problems with my knee have held me back. So now I am trying to use some of his techniques - running "taller",looking at the horizon and not just leaning forward and this is helping with my knee problems. He has studied world class athletes all over the world and talks about ultra marathons but I think we can learn something from him in terms of natural movement and the art of running. PS I am not on a commission for his book sales

I wonder if I (we) can improve my (our) running technique ?
I THINK I'm lucky enough to run naturally as he suggests... But I'd have to record myself to be sure 🤣
I watched the video and have already shared it with my husband as well. Very good! Thanks for the pointer.
I’m an ultra-slow runner (for weight and fitness reasons) so I think I automatically tread correctly, and have from the beginning of C25k been influenced by Tamaka’s Japanese slow jogging.
But I do need to remind myself to hold up my head.
Thank you!
Also, just in case this is of interest, we do have a Strengths and Flexibility forum, where I have recently posted some workouts to strengthen the knees. Here is one:
Interesting video. Thanks for posting 👍🏻
Just watched that. Very interesting, thanks. I've been concentrating on my feet in my last two runs, and getting that cycling action going with my legs. Just occasionally it all seems to come together and I feel like I'm flying. Then I overthink it and it all goes off kilter again. I guess it's as he says, little and often.
Thank you for posting. I found that interesting and will try to implement the suggestions.
Interesting video. Thanks whibbles. I think I'm going to have to get hubby to record me as I'm not sure about my running posture. It looks like you can't tell otherwise. However I think good posture definitely reduces the risk of injury so its worth checking anyway from time to time (particularly for those of us who have more mature joints!).
