Painful Legs - hot and itchy Skin

With this cold weather I can happily run, wrapped up warm enough to run in but when I get home my skin is excruciating. It is bright red and extremely painful. It takes me all my effort not to scratch myself red raw. Once I have come back to room temperature it goes.

Any suggestions on how to prevent this? Does anyone else have this problem? It puts me off going out 🙁

Thanks for reply and did look at link but don’t think so. It is mainly on my thighs. Had this problem before if I go for walk and did take to wearing merino wool leggings underneath my trousers which helped. Just wondering if it is only me. Ears, fingers etc are absolutely fine.

Obviously I am just a bit weird 🤪

I have found that winter leggings make a big difference, a recent discovery for me, but I now wear them for any run when it's around 3-4°C. I imagine your issue is cold weather related, stopping them from getting that cold is the answer, SaskAlliecat has a quilted running skirt, I know we don't get Canadian temperatures, but it might be worth a look👀

Thank you, a shopping trip seems the answer. 😃

I actually get the same thing if I don't dress warm enough. Now I usually just go red and don't get the itchy raised skin. I wear a winter tight if it is around freezing, +/- my quilted run skirt over top. If it is below -4 I'll wear a wind proof winter trouser with different weight long underwear (thin active to thicker merino)underneath depending on how cold it is +/- my quilted skirt. I'm in the prairies in Canada so I will run up to -24ish °C with the proper gear. I hope this helps.

Thank you. It was plus 1 degree so not even that cold but I am always amazed at how painful this is. Going to look for the right warm clothes. Any recommendations of brand that works well?
