Worse week

I have not been on the forum, last Monday I lost after 11 years together my faithful friend, baby, Charlie the best dog who changed my life for the better and brought me joy every day. We are devastated it was very sudden. I have not been able to run all week as kept breaking down. Yesterday it when it was pouring with rain input on my running gear, if the tears came no one would know as pouring. I set off and just ran lost in my thoughts. I managed 6k in 38mins my fastest time. It did not seem like I was running faster. I felt better for it and will go back out again after work tomorrow. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

So sorry to hear your news.

As owner of a dog we got from a rescue centre as a 2 year old 10years ago I know how important they become in the ups and downs of life. We all dread having to say goodbye to them but have the privilege of knowing we can give them the best life we can whilst we have them.

I'm glad the running gave you some comfort. And I know this isn't important to you right now_but what a cracking time to notch up for 6k especially in the circumstances. Well for you for getting out and running so well

Thank you. He has left such a massive hole. But feel privileged to have had him in our lives. I felt better after running especially in the rain x

That must have made it very tough to get out of the door for your run ,but the first time for anything is always the worst!

Things will get easier and you have all your lovely memories and (I suspect) lots of lovely photos to enjoy when you are ready for that.

In the meantime. Family, friends and running will see you through.

Really sorry to hear about your loss. A couple of our friends have recently lost their dogs, so I know how hard it is as they are such a major part of your life. I know it’s no consolation at all, but at least running in the rain hid your tears and managed to get you out to clear your head a little. Hope the pain eases soon.

We lost the family Labrador over ten years ago. I still miss him. I wasn't even in favour of us having a dog.

It’s so hard to lose your best pal x I have my Labrador’s ashes under the bed ! I lasted 2 weeks before going to North West Labrador Rescue. They just leave such a big hole - you don’t ever replace them but there is so much love waiting for someone x Be kind to yourself and take care x

So sorry for your loss. Put your energy into running. No one will notice the tears as you flash by. In time, you'll be smiling as you run along remembering his quirky ways.

I'm so glad you got that much needed bit of solace. Dogs are so ever present in our lives that when they go the loss is massive.

So sorry to hear about Charlie. Know exactly how you feel - losing my Alfie in June is what got me into running. Hope you're OK.
