Slow short week...

Not a great week for me. I had bad toothache last Thursday, went to the dentist who said I had bruised the nerve, and no running or anything that might raise the blood pressure for a few days (well, he said a week!) That screwed last week's Parkrun and my usual long-run Tuesday. 😢

Thursday I decided that, despite lingering tooth-twinges, my week was up and went for a gentle (dental?) ibuprophen-fueled flatish jog for 4Km at 6:44/km pace, and enjoyed it tremendously. So I was all set for a good parkrun today, and looking forward to it.

Had a 'gypy' tummy when I got up, and a running nose too - allergy I think, but I got to the start in good time. It was not as cold as we have had this winter, by any means, but for some reason I could not get warm, lost the feeling in my fingers before the start. I started well anyway, and set off trying to keep to about 6.5/Km pace, but I had to walk after a bit, I just could not get the bits to work at all. I considered turning back but in the end the camaraderie kept me going, and I managed 32.26 minutes, well off my best, but quite reasonable considering how I felt.

Next week will be better!

Hope you all had fun.

Sorry to hear you haven’t been well Theoldfellow. That is an amazing time considering how you were feeling at parkrun today.

Your name came up in conversation today and you might be getting a few VRB visits this summer. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

I look forward to seeing anyone who comes to Keswick Parkrun. I just hope when you and UTS come that I'm not having an 'off' day.

Off as in not doing parkrun or off as in a bit slow?

Oh, I don't mind an off day. But sometime I have to miss the Parkrun. I get quite a few baptisms to do on Saturdays.

No doubt we could track you down , if not at parkrun. By the way , your bad day is better than my good day

But We’ve had this conversation before 🤣🤣

Now that was a good time considering how you felt and actually walked a little bit as well.

I noticed today that your 90+ year old friend also ran today as well in a time of around 42 minutes.

If your toothach goes and the weather is what is forecast to be next Saturday, mainly sunny and mild, who knows you maybe able to get that magic sub 30 minute 5k

Brilliant below par PR TOF! That time is impressive indeed. I expect you’re feeling better for a run - being stuck at home feeling sorry for yourself is so much worse.

Here’s to your continued recovery. 👍
