Yesterday I tried something I’ve always wanted to do and ran along the beach promenade. I planned to run 6K as part of B210K plan.
It was a beautiful morning and the sun was gradually rising in the sky over the horizon. I’d just set off when a former colleague was running towards me stopped to say hello, it was so lovely to see her, she’d always been passionate about running and training. I hadn’t seen her to tell her I’d started running so it was a surprise to us both lol.
I continued along the promenade, taking in the sights and sounds, the beautiful horizon, the sand dunes, the sound of seagulls, the taste of the sea air. It was a very all encompassing feeling and I was completely in the moment. I had to duck as I ran under each pier, I had to detour to the seafront strip due to renovations and saw all the amusement arcades and boating lakes with pirates around that I visited as a child. I ran the length of the promenade to the fairground which was exactly 3K then returned. It was a thrilling run and full of nostalgia. I ran 6.2 K in 50 mins and felt I could have run all day. I had a runners high for sure, felt proud of my achievements in running and loved going down memory lane. Planning to do my 10K on the seafront when I graduate B210K. Happy running g guys 🏃🏻🏃🏽♀️😁

Lol yep I’ll avoid that easterly wind. It has changed so much since I was here as a child, I was visiting my friends new workplace and tied it in with a beach run, I live more inland and hadn’t been in ages, it is old dare I say seaside tack (which I love) with new promenade developments. I’ll get more pics next run there. Happy running
What a lovely place to run, I’d imagine that fresh sea air helps too, nice to hear your taking in the sights as you run, which means you’re relaxed and it’s not a slog, you’ll be reaching 10k in no time. That runners high is soooo addictive 😀
That sounded like such a lovely, nostalgic run. How amazing to be able to run along the beach promenade and to be able to smell the sea air. Your plan to run on the seafront when you graduate sounds truly wonderful.
Hi from Norwich! Not run there but walked during the eerie quiet of the first lockdown. The only time I could get my husband to explore Gt Yarmouth! Loved the restored Waterways. Happy running, Catho78!
