Good morning everyone. Happy Saturday. It is a beautiful morning here, a complete contrast to last weekend. It is calm, sunny and dry. Perfect running weather. I have had a busy week in work and have not been on here as much. I also have not ran as much as normal. But I am looking forward to my run this morning and I plan to run tomorrow too.
For anyone reading this for the first time and wondering what this is all about, it is just a bit of fun. A group of us from this Forum who used to do parkrun every Saturday morning run our own 5K. We do it on our own, in our own time and we pop back here afterwards and we leave a little run report. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in. You can walk, jog or run 5K, or a combination of all 3 if you wish. Happy running everyone. I look forward to reading all the run reports later.

Morning Damien, gorgeous day today here too. I did my run yesterday as we had perfect weather here. I ran 5k in 39.33. Itโs so nice here today that I am hoping to do my 30k bike ride later. Have a brilliant day running everyone ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ป๐ฝ๐
Well friends, first off the mark, but for the wrong reasons! I tested positive for Covid so no running for me until next weekend. ๐ซ
I felt a bit coldy all week so have been taking it easy, but my sense of taste and smell went 100% on Tuesday which got me suspicious. Got tested on Thursday and only dog walked in the fields behind our house, and got my positive result this morning!
All Iโve done is visit the supermarket and we had a meal out with friends last Friday, so who knows where I picked it up. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I feel fine - but itโs so dull not tasting anything. Even tried a pickled onion - nothing! ๐
Happy running guys. I can start back on Friday according to my app, so Iโll hopefully do a super slow (Not) PR with you all then! ๐ฅฐ
Oh no Cheeky. You are fit and healthy so I hope that itโs a quick affair. I hope that the rest of the family are clear. Let them do all meals and deliver to you in isolation. Do pedicures, manicures and spoil yourself. ๐
Eeew, sorry to hear that but thank you for the confirmation about the anosmia. I've been waking up thinking "Oh no!" but enjoying my breakfast and coffee far too much for it to be real.
Oh no ๐ข Glad to hear you are generally feeling fine and hope the rest of the family are ok. Having to self isolate and not being able to enjoy your favourite food and drink to while away the time is a real bummer! Big hugs ๐ค
Wishing you a very speedy recovery Cheeky and hope you are feeling better and taste comes back soon. Lokking forward to standing beside you for a (not)parkrun next weekend. Let every pamper you now and binge on some boxsets.
Oh cheeky no!!!! This is just not allowed! You take good care of yourself and see that bug off quickly. Where on earth did you catch ?it ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ Really bad luck! ๐๐ค
Oh no Cheeky! Rest up and take care of yourself. Time for a little guilt-free self-indulgence I think. Hope to read your running posts again before too long. ๐ค
Wish Iโd seen that pic before I ran. The last couple of times out Iโve run with a little thin jacket which was enough to keep the frost out and pretty warm by the time Iโd finished. Foolishly I wore it today ๐ฅต itโs a lot milder today and I think I could have run just in short sleeve tee and maybe even capris rather than leggings.
Anyway I ran, it was a lovely peaceful run and I enjoyed it again ( twice in a row!!๐) and I was a bit faster than the last couple of times too!!
Itโs been 44:05, 44:20 but this morning it was 42:59. And Iโm happy with that as Iโve had a bad few months. This is my favourite running weather though.
Nice to see you out again Limberlou. The great thing about the thin jacket is that itโs easy to take off when you get warmer. Iโve become very adept at removing jacket, zipping up, and tying around my waist without stopping!
Well done. Yes I love this time of the year too for running. Although it is hard to know what to wear some days. I too wear a light running jacket from my running club. It gets too warm after 2-3 K but I'd still need it. Well done on your running.
Thanks - I tend to run a bit hotter than most people at the best of times let alone when Iโm actually running. Iโll go out on an 8 degree morning in short sleeve T and capris . I just didnโt realise it was so mild today.
Hello Damienair, I ran my (not) parkrun yesterday And just like you found , when lockdown starts everyone heads for the promenade! It was so busy and I was weaving between the pairs of people and their dogs. I will definitely be avoiding the prom at weekends again.
It was a beautiful bluebird day with a 35mph easterly, so I finished with the wind behind me. Not a PB at 33:46 but I did get 2 Strava segment PBs, which is always nice.
UpTheStanley had already completed his run so he walked back to meet me and jogged to the end of my 5k. Aw , just like parkrun . ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Nice, well done Dexy, you have bounced back so well and are getting back to where you left off before that Ski Trip Trip. Super running. I'm getting ready to go now soon.
Good morning Damien, I am just back from my 21st (not ) parkrun, a bit misty where I am today, cool with a temperature of around 5C, run OK, I thought it was going to be over 35 minutes but the final K was my quickest, the full time being 34.53, enjoy your run.
Morning Damien! Just been out. Iโve got an impromptu walk this afternoon with a friend so have to cram the afternoon things into the morning. The Christmas cake is in the oven (the fruit has been pickling in brandy for 4 weeks because Iโve not had time to put it in the oven!), the rolls are rising and the washing is on.
So finally managed to get out and itโs definitely quieter out there than usual but there were lots of people having a walk or a run because the weather is so nice.
Love running in this so this is the third day on the trot weโve been out running. I always have a sense of dread about this one though as itโs 30 minutes-ish hard running. Definitely out of puff at the end of this one though, trying to keep up with Katnap who had stormed off ahead. He can go much quicker than he does with me. Anyway, 28:08 this week so not too shabby.
Have a good week everyone and happy running ๐๐๐
Excellent TailChaser. Great running. I'm still a long way behind you. I wish I could run a 28 minute time. It will take me some time to get there yet. I did some interval training this morning. Hard to believe that this time last year I was comfortably running 28 minutes. Great running again and very well done especially after 3 days on the trot.
Morning Damien and everyone! Thick fog when I got up to make tea this morning, so I waited until it had cleared and the sun came out to melt the frost. Rather chilly, feeling like 3c so second layer required. Ran my usual route in 32.12. 7 weeks in a row now that my time has been between 32 and 32.30. Consistent anyway ๐ For some strange reason the American lady on Strava has been replaced by my previous English man ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Sorry I didn't mean you. I seen online previously lots of people gathering at a certain parkrun at 9am and they asked the runners not to do so. ๐๐
I don't run where my parkrun is, however, I think many runners are totally fed up with no parkruns taking part that they are just going anyway to where they take part and going a ๐๐พ run.
Itโs certainly hard to motivate ourselves with nothing to run for ๐ถ I do miss parkrun. I canโt even remember what it was like to be able to see everyone ๐ข
Hi Tasha99, I have just thought of something, next week I will run my (not) parkrun on Friday near to where I live, on Saturday morning I will go a WALK where my home parkrun is, just out of curiosity to see IF there are any runners where it is held, I am sure there won't be many as judging by the not parkruns results, not many do them, anyway, I have been going walks around that park for over ten years and only doing the runs for 7 months, I usually go once a month and next week will be the November one.
There are only 7 not parkrun results for today but there were, Iโd say 30 there at 9. There used to be 250-300 so itโs a lot less but there seemed to be a fair few from one local running club. Someoneโs Strava from another parkrun said โran with 8 othersโ. I guess thatโs rather less than were there.
I went to that park in July for that months walk on a Friday, there was runner who recognised me from when I run official Parkruns, she was running a 5K on the parkrun course, I did not have my running shoes with me but a reasonable pair of trainers, I was speaking to her and decided to run the last 150 metres with her, I kept a little ahead of her until the end, she told me it was nice to meet me, I asked what her time was, she told me it was around 28 minutes, she hoped it would not be too long before parkruns resume, we are still waiting ๐
Did they not get the email to say it was not returning? Worried about negative press for parkrun if people start running the route at 9.00 on a Saturday.
People are there every Saturday. Iโm sure itโs the same everywhere. I was walking my dog and itโs the first time Iโve walked passed the start at 9am. They know fine well itโs not on and they shouldnโt be gathering there.
Hello Damien. Just got in from my not parkrun with a time of 29.51 and I'm pretty pleased as I finally conquered a long steep hill and didn't have to stop at the top to catch my breath this time .
I'm used to hill running but this one is a beast ๐คฃ. Happy not parkrun ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
What a lovely morning. I enjoyed my run in the sunshine.
As you know we go to a local cafe for our post-run second breakfast on Saturday mornings but unfortunately it has closed, as have the other cafes in the village.
But never fear! I tracked down another that is doing takeaways and it only involves a short detour on our way home. When we got to the top of the hill I phoned with our order and we collected it 10 minutes later.
While we were making our tea and coffee the cafe phoned to say they had given us the wrong order. It was sausage instead of bacon, egg and mushrooms, so Geoff went back to collect the right ones. Apparently the other customer didn't want his sausages, so we were told to keep them - that's tonight's tea sorted then
Oh, the run. Did you want to know about that?
About 38 minutes. I will claim my Monday 33.30 for my (not)parkrun pb this week!
Nice, extra freebe. The nicest food is free food. Well done on your run. Nice that the cafe is doing takeaway. I am so looking forward to the real parkrun and real post parkrun breakfasts. I love when I go doing parkrun touring with my Son. We usually find a McDonalds for post parkrun breakfast.
I'm just back from my run. I ran 3K at a nice 6 min/km pace. I was a bit bunched at the 3K point before the hill climb so I decided to split the next 2 kilometres into interval training. I took a quick break, and ran the next kilometre at a 5:54 km/min pace up the hill and beyond. I took a quick break again and ran the final kilometre at a 5:09 km/min pace. Not a full 5K without stopping, but with intervals. My finish time was 28:47. I am trying to speed up again. It is going to take time. I enjoyed that run. I can feel myself getting stronger.
Little 31.22 5k this morning. I awoke to mist which brought a decided chill with it. From Sandieโs post it looks as though a chunk of the East caught it. Not good for we asthmatics but I struggled through. I returned home to discover that my Vitality 10000 bling had arrived.....wearing the T shirt now!!Sitting around with the medal on would be a bit too much ๐. Lots of get well waves headed cheekyโs way!!
I did my (not)parkrun first thing yesterday morning. I ran part of the the route I used for my Vitality London 10,000 last Saturday.
It was a shock stepping outside in just 4 degrees, but thankfully I more or less chose the right kit - tights, long-sleeved technical top with a T-shirt underneath, buff and sun visor. In hindsight I didn't really need the extra layer but was grateful for it on my warmup.
I used the NRC "A Whole Run", without any music, and without looking at my watch for this one as I just wanted an easy relaxed run after the emotional high of my 10k.
In the end I ran it in 41.36 - not my fastest but certainly not my slowest.
Very well done. Sorry about my delay in replying to you. Was away from Phone and Screens a lot this weekend. I can't exactly lecture my two boys about it and do the opposite.
Well done nowster and thanks for posting the link.
Damien
Hi Damien. Thanks for the pic about layering; it was a very helpful and timely reminder.
Suitably attired, I ran a deliberately slow 5k on trails in the woods this morning. It was rather squelchy underfoot and a lot of puddle jumping was needed so that slowed me a little, but I am playing around with the running zones at the moment, so I was consciously trying to slow my pace - so difficult! I felt a little restricted and tense to begin with but I eased up more as I ran. I am working towards increasing my time in the green of zone 3, but was quite happy with things this morning as a first try. It will be interesting to see how the time spent in zones changes over time.
Very well done. I must admit that I don't really know much about the Zones. Something I mean to look up and investigate more. I tend to slow down for longer runs and speed up for shorter runs and over time my 5K pace meets somewhere in the middle. It worked for me last year but was not at all scientific.
Hi Damien, I went out for an (overdue) 10K early this morning - jumper tied around my waist just in case (think passersby thought I must have been mad in capris and running vest but I soon warm up). Anyway, (not) Park Run complete @ 34:05 so happy with that
Similarly, I warmed up quickly this morning, but didn't have the benefit of being able to take off the extra layer. My tops were sopping wet when I got back home.
today I ran my c25k Wk6 R1 which covered 3.96k then I carried on walking to make up the 5k for Parkrun.
I wore my long leggings t-shirt and running jacket, but added a buff today in case the air was cold. It wasn't, and during my first walk break I managed to manoeuvre it off my neck without losing my earphone pips.โบ
I actually found this run tougher than the Wk 5 R3 on Wednesday, same course, but lots more people/ runners/dog walkers/kiddies on bikes which was distracting ( good) but maybe I worked harder avoiding them all (bad).
I was running at a park where Parkrun usually takes place, I wasn't there at 9am, so don't know how busy it was then, there were quite a few runners doing laps, but by themselves or in two's only, when I was there at 11am.
Sunny with an undulating course, I took it on. Trying not to get hung up on my speed at all, just wanting to make the required running time, but secretly pleased to see 'trending faster' and acheivements on Strava. It means nowt, cos' there is a lot of walking going on still, but you know what we runners are like! Hee hee.
Well done Bluebirdrunner, Iโm glad to see that you are still progressing after your time on the injury couch. Putting a time in for not parkrun will also give you an incentive.
Very well done. Sorry about my delay in replying. We were lecturing our 2 boys about screen time etc over the weekend. So I had to lead by example and stay away myself. It was really mild here all weekend. I'm going to attempt a 10K later. I think a T-Shirt will actually do today.
Thanks for inspiring me everyone. I hadnโt run for a week๐ฑ as groundhog gremlins got to me but a comfortable 6k today after reading posts and pulling my socks up!
Very well done on your 6K. Great running. Hopefully see you again for a (not)parkrun next weekend.
Damien
Managed to squeeze it in, beautiful misty chilly morning, and totally enjoyed a mixed up hilly 5k notaparkrun and just nipped in under the magic 30mins ๐ฅณ 29.30 refreshed.....
Very well done. And very safely under the sub 30 minute 5K magic number. My first sub 30 minutes was at a road race and I did 29:56, that was not safely under at all but I was so proud.
Just been reading about everyone's runs. Sounds like many of you had the same beautiful morning for you run as I did. Such a change after running through the wind and rain last Saturday. It was lovely but not nearly as exhilarating!
I ran a slow steady 5k today as part of my 8k on Juju's magic plan clocking up 34:18 for the last 5k so not my fastest but a steady speed over the whole run.
Happy running all and best wishes for a speedy recovery CheekyCM.
Very well done. I'm going to attempt a 10K again later today. I always found 8K to be a distance that once you reach your brain switches over to a can do attitude and the thoughts of reaching 10K becomes so much easier.
Big excitement for me this morning_did the 5k on Juju's plan in 31:31. Chipping away at that time! Will never be fast at my age and height but get below 30 one day (without injury)is one of my long term goals.
All through the first lockdown I had felt it inadvisable to run on Southsea seafront on a weekend. I had relaxed a bit when they closed the road and started running on Sundays. (Not) parkrun has been a successful weekday thing.
I meant to run yesterday, but got derailed by a surveyor changing his appointment time combined with monumental faffing and a grumbly quad. So it had to be today.
I could have got up early. I was awake. But there was a rugby match on TV at 8:45 and I couldnโt make myself get out quite early enough. The only thing that has ever made me wait for a later viewing of a recording of an All Blacks match is proper parkrun. So I got up at 8, made my best version of Southsea Beach Cafeโs french toast with pears and marscapone, and settled in for the match.
At 11am I started to get ready for running but realised I had failed to recharge my phone overnight. I also felt I really needed to subscribe to Amazon Prime so I could watch the six nations rugby cup starting on Friday. Which meant it was a good time to order some more kettlebells with free delivery. So we were approaching lunch time when I finally got out.
I went to canoe lake to stretch pre run. It was rammed. I ran along the road to the north of canoe lake round to the seafront. It was rammed. I ran back along the prom to where Southsea parkrun starts. There were people everywhere, ridiculous queues for takeaways, broadly a nice bright day with non essential shops closed meant the seafront was May revisited. I eventually retreated inland to run and wonโt be trying to run again on a Saturday in Southsea any time soon.
Well done for getting out in the end Coddfish. Yes we found it very busy on Friday so with the lovely sunny day today and free parking, everyone just headed for the sea front. 1+1 meet ups? Not sure that people are taking much notice of that!. We found walking was hard enough this afternoon, so if we do go out at the weekends we will be heading east.
It was foggy and still. Me and the dog knocked a minute off the last 5 km I did and just sneaked in under 45 mins. First time outside.
I saw a runner in all over mad purple colours running fast towards me and a couple of other people but I usually I see no one on that route just farmers and wildlife. Today 6 swans flying very low.
Hi Damienair and fellow runners! I ran 10K for Mo-Running yesterday, so today (Sunday) was my (not)Parkrun day.๐
I ran along the seafront in Bognor at about 8:00am, so only dog walkers and other runners around.๐
Weather was cool but not not cold and hardly a breath of wind. These are ideal conditions for me and I finished in 28:39 so I was pleased with that after running yesterday.๐
I think Iโll post separately about my Mo-Running outing and LEJOG exploits.
I went out this morning for my (not) parkrun. I had a rest day yesterday as I had been straightened out by my chiropractor on Friday evening. I had a 14km run planned. I managed a 5k in a PB of 28.31. I'm really happy as I knocked 20 seconds of my time.
I have logged this as my Mo-Run time and my Poppy Run.
A flying visit to say that I couldn't do my (not) parkrun yesterday due to a stomach upset Friday night - all better by last night so I was out first thing this morning. Bit drizzly - (very) old Fleetwood Mac concert on the headphones and I was off. 30.10 later I was back - negative splits again and HR zone 4 for 85% of the run. Not sure I'll ever make it to zone 3 though!๐
