It’s another Saturday morning which means it’s time for another (not)parkrun. For anyone new to this, a group of us here run 5K every Saturday morning and we pretend that we have just done a parkrun. We then post our little run reports below.
So you are all welcome to join in every Saturday morning. This morning I am at my parents house. I may wait and do my own (not)parkrun this afternoon instead when I get back home. Although I do have my running gear with me. We will see what happens.
Happy running everyone and l am looking forward to reading all the run reports later.

Well done. I didn't get to run yesterday after all. I got out there now and did 5K followed by another 2K. I'm wrecked. I'm only catching up on this now.
Morning Damien and all you other friendly runners! 🥰
I wasn’t looking forward to my run this morning (what? 😱) I’ve become a little competitive with myself of late and I didn’t feel I’d be able to manage more than a lukewarm plod. I then would have been cross! 🙄
But, being the obstinate soul that I am, I headed out. Walked up to my personal “start line” and barely checked my Garmin during the run at all as I didn’t think I’d like what I’d see.
I had to deviate off my chosen track a few times (it’s a large flat grassy area with a track round the perimeter and one up the middle giving me “dog walker avoidance” options). I can see Flossie at all times and she snuffles around watching me going round in circles! 🐕 The run felt ok, no more than that, so I was delighted to find I’d shaved 27 seconds off last week, resulting in my 2nd fastest (Not) PR time of 34:31. 🏃♀️
It was worth grumping out the door for after all! 👍
Thanks Dexy5 , it’s 33:31 which I got when we all met at Stratford-upon-Avon. I was nowhere near that at Eastville, so it would be fun to see what my time is nowadays ...... 🏃♀️
Great run for you today Cheeky, a sub 35 minute 5K is always a very good time for us runners, a pity that Flossie can't run along with you, perhaps she would rather sniff among bushes while you 🏃🏾 run. 🏃🏾
Thank you AlMorr , I was surprised to see a sub 35 today. I was fully expecting over 36 minutes if I’m being honest!
I think Flossie would rather do her own thing off the lead when she can. She’ll get plenty more chances to run attached to me when real PR starts back up. 😀
I take my neighbours dog a walk most days, occasionally when I am walking Holly the dog, Holly pulls me along and I start to run, her owner told me today that Holly could run at a parkrun whenever they start again, I am not sure if I could run a full 5K with Holly, she runs quite fast, but who knows I might get a sub 30 minute 5k with her. 😊 🏃🏾
Good morning Damien & all! I did my (not)parkrun on Thursday as I’ve had to shake my routine up. I will be doing my long run instead very shortly and I was supposed to do a 10 mile walk via canal side pubs tomorrow. Unfortunately my friend is going into Birmingham lockdown so it’s been postponed. Understandably she wants one last run with her running group so another plan bites the dust 🙄
Thursday was tough as I did it after work but it was 28:40 so could be worse.
I might just have to go to the pub tomorrow anyway...
I’ve only got close to 28.40 once in my life, so that’s a success as far as I’m concerned👏👏 I agree with Dexy, go to the pub anyway, especially if you can sit outside in the sunshine. Life is for living xx
I probably couldn’t do 28:40 if I was on my bike TC so well done you! What a shame about your friend, I suspect we’ll be in for more of the same as the winter comes on. Better make the most of the pub while you can!🤪
I didn't realise that you also cycled Oldgirlruns, well done, as you probably know I also cycle, much much longer than running, been cycling since I was 7 except for around 10 years after I got married.
You compare times with cycling and running, I have compared my normal 5K route with cycling, running and walking for comparisons, on AVERAGE I RUN that 5K route in 33.30, have walked it on average in 55 minutes although I once power walked it on 48 minutes and cycled it in around 19 minutes, I have not got a racing bike, if I had the time would probably be about 13 minutes, so I hope you enjoy your cycling 🚲 as much as your 🏃🏾 running.
When I say cycling Alan, I mean I have a 35 year old bike which sits in the hall getting in the way and which gets taken out occasionally! Very naughty as living in a flat city there’s really no excuse for not cycling everywhere!
That’s a fast walk Al, I usually take just over an hour. I don’t think my little legs were built for fast walking. I’ll have to see how fast it is on my mountain bike one day.
On a Thursday I am a member of our local walking group, it restarted 2 weeks ago after almost 6 months off due to you know what, the group is devided into 3 sections, the slow, medium and faster walkers, a bit like a running club, I am in the faster walking section, on a Thursday we usually walk a little over 4K in around the 47/52 minutes time, when we finish we all go into the local leisure centre cafe where the other 2 section are BUT for the moment we just go home because of social distancing, anyway the cafe is closed. until ??
I think you’re right OG, I’m just surprised it’s happening so quickly. Thankfully my friend is coming down now so we can go to the pub together. As I’m getting an HU round in, can I get you a pint of something? 😋🍻
I didn't get to do a run yesterday after all. We were away and when we got home at 4 pm yesterday I was just about to go for a run until disaster struck. Well disaster for my two boys anyway. The PS4 had a melt down and had stopped working. So I spent the evening trying to repair it and get it going again. The kitchen table was full of circuit boards, fans and screws. Thankfully it worked. But after getting it going again it was late and I had lost interest.
I'm just in after doing my run now. I did 7K interval training. It was warm.
Good morning Damien, I am just back from my 26th Virtual parkrun, 13th (not)parkrun, would you believe it that is now 6 months since there was a official Parkrun, anyway it was a lucky 13 for me as my run this morning was a NOT parkrun PB of 32.36, it was ran on a slightly different route as my normal one, the exact same 5K route of our local Santa Dash 5K in December which no doubt this year won't be on.
Congratulations on your (not) Parkrun PB Al. A great time👏👏👏 Fingers crossed that the real thing will be back next month, although I’m not trying to get my hopes up too much the way things are going
Thanks Dexy5, I was also congratulated on my run by another runner whom I met after we had completed our runs, he told me that he also ran at the same parkrun that I had a PB of 30.55 a year ago next week.
A PB at NOT PARKRUN, my 5K PB was ran at a official Parkrun in September 2019 in a time of 30.55, you can see my run of Saturday morning on Relive as I saw your wonderful marathon on Relive as well, once again a big congratulations for that 26 mile run. 🏃🏾 👍 🎓
Congratulations Alan on your (not)parkrun PB. Great going. Sorry I'm late replying. I was kept very busy with family stuff yesterday. I only got to do my own run today. But I'm not logging it as it was interval training. The picture of me at the top is from 6 months ago. The very last parkrun. It had stopped in the Republic of Ireland the week before due to COVID-19. But I was away with work in Belfast and ran Queens parkrun.
No problem whatsoever Damien, I do remember that the UK had parkruns on the 14th March when the rest of Europe including your country had their last parkrun the previous week, 7th March, on the 21st March I ran my first virtual parkrun, all the runs now seem "virtual" there was a TV program on today regarding the Great North Run, today there were several thousand running a Virtual Great North Run, that's a half marathon.
Morning! I did my slow plod yesterday Damien, hope that’s ok! I did a 4k as part of ju-ju’s plan and then tacked on the extra km to make up my (not)parkrun for a total of 49:26 mins. Happy running folks!
I was passed by a runner who later I met when he and I were finished with our run, he noticed that I was wearing my Vitality Parkrun t shirt and told me that he also ran at parkruns, he congratulated me on my time this morning and also hoped that it won't be too long before parkruns resume???.
Morning all, my first post on this (not) parkrun Virtual 5k thread.
Managed to dodge the showers and then very annoyingly get well soaked by a passing white van man, hopefully not deliberately 🤣. Apart from that and being overtaken at one point by a much faster runner it was quite uneventful.
Completed 5.14k in 36.56 with an average pace of 7.11 per km.
Delighted to have you join us. Unfortunately I did not get to take part myself yesterday due to family time and 2 very upset young boys who have managed to practically burn out their games console over the last 6 months due to over usage. Anyway, I spent yesterday evening trying to fix it for them. Thankfully it worked.
I got out for my run today instead but I won't be logging it as I did 7K Interval training instead. Looking forward to having you on board again next week. I'll be properly taking part then.
Set out this morning for my 39min run on Juju's magic plan. I have been playing with various app and now found the best solution for me_NRC app set at runtime so I get regular updates and a comedy podcast to entertain.
Result was 39 min run completed and my first (not )parkrun 5k time 35:53 .
Thanks, Never kept going on anything like this before_reading all the entertaining posts on here that keeps me going_...and I think I may be getting a bit addicted to running!Never thought I'd say that.
Well done on the 39 minute run and on your first (not)parkrun. Welcome. Looking forward to seeing you again next Saturday. I cheated yesterday. Only did my run today. I'll be out for sure next week. See you again then.
I have also done a separate post because I wanted to share a photo of my km times.
This week we are back to our usual Saturday morning lockdown run. We were elsewhere for the last two weeks because we joined Pianism on his virtual Half Marathon, then we went camping in Delamere Forest.
It was a very nice run, comfortable temperature and each kilometre was faster than the one before. I have taken to stopping my watch after 5km then running/walking back but today I was going well so continued the run to 6km, where I met Geoff walking back towards me brandishing the water bottle.
We then walked back to the village, but oh no! The cafe was full and people waiting outside. So I ordered takeaway bacon, egg and mushroom toasties. After a few minutes though, two tables became free so we were able to sit outside and we ordered tea and coffee to go with the toasties.
Brilliant idea. I'm on week 2 of the 60 min magic plan , , I've just posted about the worse run I've ever had, concrete legs!! 39 mins running was the plan, but my legs had other ideas!! But I kept going , not a Capricorn for nothing!!I love the idea of posting on here every sat. Going to look forward to that! Does it have to be 5km?
Glad to have you along. You can do what ever you want, walk, jog, run and any distance. parkrun is 5K every Saturday morning, well at least it was for the past 10 years before lockdown. So we do 5K, but if you want to do more or less, that's no problem. Well done on your run and looking forward to seeing you again next Saturday morning.
It was a beautiful morning here in Portsmouth. Earlier in the week I'd disciplined myself to run slower and was rewarded by my first 10k since May. Today I decided to take a similar approach, but couldn't completely restrain myself for the whole 5k, so ended up with 29.57 - not that slow after all. Must try harder!😀
Very well done on your first 10K since May and also on your nice little sub 30 minute 5K (not)parkrun yesterday.
I ended up being caught up with family stuff yesterday and repairing the kids PS4 yesterday evening. So only got out for my run today. Did 7K interval training so I won't be logging it.
A late 5k for me today, but it was a warm still evening and I set off in hope of seeing my favourite flighty piece (a barn owl); but alas she was charming someone else tonight!!Perfidious floosy!!
I picked up where I left off last week really, shorter stride, higher cadence and a 31:32 time. My 28:17 pb looks unassailable, but I am certainly not going to push it. I am just enjoying each run now. Oh VO2 max gave me another point back, so now I am back at pre injury levels. Probably take it away again on Monday’s hill run but who cares? I can run 🙂
Our Little Owl never came back either, but we were rewarded with a family of wild boar trotting across ‘our’ field a couple of mornings ago. Back to the UK now and feeling rather chilly despite 18c temp! Two weeks’ imprisonment to endure. Ah well, it’s been a lovely 10 weeks 😊
Back in the land of the stasi and am going to do a 2 week diet and detox! It is just too easy to spend time in the Dordogne on food and wine. And I wouldn’t have it any other way - woe betide if you are vegetarian though!
Not for me...... I cooked some nice rib eye steaks tonight; delicious....pity wine is off the menu. I still laugh when I think of our eldest announcing, at age 11, that he was going to be veggie. I pointed out that he only ate peas.....end of rebellion 🙂
I still remember my step daughter saying she was going going veggie. I asked her what she was going to eat as she wasn’t keen on vegetables- she didn’t really have an answer. Only one (or 3) words - magret de canard 😊
Well done. I'm a long long way off of last years PB's now. But I'm trying to slowly get back there. Like you I am just happy to be running still. That's the main thing.
Sorry I'm a bit late to the party. I did my local (Not) Parkrun yesterday with a PB of 31.48. I'm really happy with the result as my legs felt like lead all the way round. I know I didn't hydrate properly on Friday as I was stuck with a full day of mandatory training. It was my own fault as I also decided to walk the 8 miles to and from work on Friday to counteract sitting in a classroom all day.
I seem to be slowly improving my time. I have a 5k planned for November (Covid restrictions depending) and would love to have a sub-30 min. Not sure how to increase my pace further though. I seem to be hovering around the 31-33 minute mark.
Well done on your PB. I was late to the party too. I only did my own run earlier today. Like you last year I was running 5K in around 32-33 minutes. I started running longer distances and also doing midweek interval training. I managed to get down to a PB of 25:36, it took 8 months but was slow and steady improvement each week.
At the start of this year I was running 5K in 27 minutes. Over the past few months with COVID-19 etc I have kept up my running but slowed right down. Back to 32-33 minutes for 5K. I'm back trying to speed up again. I find it you do 5K interval training on Tuesday and Thursday, 5K (not)parkrun on Saturday and then a longer slower run on Sunday you will get down to sub 30 minutes easy for 5K. With interval training I run 1K at a faster pace, take a short break and repeat. Do it for 5 to 6K.
