Anyone else considering a RED lockdown?

I’ve never run every day but wonder if, by doing this, I’ll do a better variety of runs. Intervals etc. Also I seem to have signed up for an ACTUAL 10k!! Might see some VRBs in London next May? 🤞🏻

Good luck with your RED. Lockdown. I tried a RED September. 1st I went over my ankle and needed a few days off, then babyhugs shared a stinking cold and I needed another few days off, then I got depressed as my runs weren’t long enough to hit that happy place and my monthly 100k goal was not going to be hit. But you’ll be grand🎉🙆🏼‍♀️

Thank you 👍🏻 I’ll probably not have grandchildren to share their bugs as although my daughter will still have to work she’s trying her best to use holiday/weekend working to avoid using us. We’ll be on standby though as in the current climate a job’s a job! It’s with Easyjet so could be on a shoogily peg!!

Yikes, I hope her job keeps existing for her. We are in a Scotland level 2 so still a relatively large amount of freedom, and daughter allegedly is a key worker - newspaper production 🤣 amazing the jobs that are suddenly important. I have grandson for for half of 3 days next week to fit around his childminder so running may have to have a rest. Allegedly if granny is around then granddad is no use and my sole purpose is to hold his hands while he toddles round and round the house. Just as well he’s a very tall 8months otherwise I’d have a really sore back. I look forward to hearing how your RED running goes.

Oh well I’d started a long reply but lost it! However I have just discovered from the COVID tracker app that I’ve to self isolate for 10 days. 😷 My running streak stops at 1!! 😔 We went to Cromer for 2 days and did eat out but didn’t get close to anyone so I’m not too worried. Yet. I tend to wake in the night and do my worrying then!

Oh no! Maybe it’s time for an indoor walking & running workouts? I came across them at some point but haven’t had to use them yet. One is: Holly Dolke Indoor Walking Workout  youtu.be/XvClcfVqwXA

Might be good to keep your spirits up. Keep safe and take care! ♥️

Thank you for that suggestion. My daughter suggested hill training on the stairs but Garmin doesn’t think my stairs count as a flight!! 🤷‍♀️ I always knew I needed to add some strength/hit work so now’s my chance.

Oh no, so very sorry to hear that. Hope it’s just a precaution and you keep well. 🤗

Thank you. I’m optimistic as I feel we’ve been as careful as we possibly could be. 🤞🏻

Ooh Sybilw I see you’re confined to quarters! Hope all is well. 🤗

Do you have any plans for solitary? Some of us are struggling to get out unconfined, but working on it! 😉 ❤️

Finding things to do. Currently wrapping Christmas although I did start that in the first lockdown!! In my defence I do advent presents (24) for grandchildren and various family members so it’s quite a big job. It’s a bit like C25K - once you start you really just have to keep going! This one snowballs though!! 😆

I won’t be running everyday SybilW but have deferred my 2020 Vitality 10000 to 2021. Let’s hope this one happens.

Turns out I won’t either. Just by chance I opened the COVID tracker app to discover I’ve to self isolate for 10 days! 😷

Oh no, at least you will isolate when nothing is open..

True. We’re just back from what we thought was a very safe trip to Norfolk. Just walking and eating. Turns out eating isn’t so hood for you! The places we ate were very well organised though so I’m not too worried.

Did your app say that you were close to someone who was positive for Covid, or that the establishment you were in was involved In Covid spreading? I must say I’m relieved each time it says zero contacts.

I think it just said I had to isolate for 10 days after close contact - I know it’s 14 but it obviously takes time to get a result and then inform. From that I can work out where we were (only one venue checked in that day) and it was well organised and quiet. Only worry is that I found the notification as I was closing open tabs on my phone. Didn’t see a red flag on the app as I’d expected and I don’t ever open it unless checking in! Feeling fine and better after yesterday’s USA news! Son is in New York.

Oh but I DID enter the real Vitality London 10k in May! An actual proper race! I’ve done a couple of very local 5s but usually I’m a lone runner.

I’m sure you’ll love a big race Sybilw. Everyone is so supportive along the route.

You’re right - I’ll be fine. 😊

Hi

I did RED July & to be honest I loved it as I was still in Lockdown with no definite date to return to work . I mixed up what I ran, some days I set out with a distance in mind and others i just went out & ran til I'd had enough that might have been 2k or my best was 8k (had only ever run 5k before that) and it gave me back the love of running again as the only goal i had was to run every day and everyday day I ran put me closer to that goal

I’m on pause (stop actually) due to self isolation but will try another time - maybe sooner rather than waiting for it to get too cold! I do grandchildren childcare though which involves overnights, school runs and a 2 year old so it can be tricky. That’s why I’ve not really tried it before. I’ll remember your recommendation. Thank you

I've signed up for the London vitality 10k! I know a few others have too.

I'm not going to consider running every day - need my non running days, even though I'd like to run every day!

Tbf I’ve been running a bit longer (April’18 was my first run) and I’ve been lucky to avoid injury. However I didn’t expect self isolation. Oh well. 😕
