I've never actually done a park run but I would like the chance to. I didn't realise England's Park runs were in jeopardy.
Did anyone else get this email?: I've never... - Bridge to 10K
Did anyone else get this email?
Yes, I did. What he's asking for is for people to encourage local land owners to allow all parkrun venues in England to re-open on the same day so there is less likelihood of overcrowding from people changing venue to one that is open.
Yes I understand that, not sure how many are likely to be on such persuasive terms with their local landowners though😬
Round here it's mainly local councils.
Yes I got that and didn’t really read it. I deleted it as I’ve heard they’re back June 5 so wasn’t sure if it was just emotive exaggeration?
I don't know, it wasn't the most concise email!
Too long for me to read. I only read short posts on here too 🤣
No why don't I find that surprising 🤣🤣🤣, I always feel you are a "to the point person " and I mean that in a good way 😘
I don’t have time in life for that. Teacher. Runner. Single mum to a footballing child. I hardly have time to breathe. Got to prioritise 🤣
The key Tash is multi tasking 🤣, whatever that means 🙄

Yep that's me done for, I'm officially sticking to singular tasks 🧘
My husband read a study carried out at a university some years ago where they tested people. The ones that said they were good at multi-tasking actually did worse at all tasks than those that said they could not multi-task. The conclusion was, if you say you can multi-task, you just don't realise you do things wrong. Before we were married, his mother always told him that women can multi-task and men can't. Now when she says it, he just smiles and says he is quite happy doing one job at a time as he knows it will be done right.
That's me told off. 🤣
They want to return on June 5th Tasha, but there is a real danger that some parkruns may not start on that date because of landowner’s concerns. Councils may need to be persuaded by their constituents of the benefits to their local community, both mental and physical .
Not all junior parkruns have returned yet but that does not present the same dangers of overwhelming a nearby parkrun as in the adult parkruns.
Yes, got it this evening. Jeopardy or not depends on landowners agreeing to host Parkruns again. I’m optimistic but music festivals wary of not getting insurance cover. No idea if Parkrun in same situation.
Had one. Hadn’t realised the issues of reopening. Hope there won’t be obstructive land owners.
In Scotland most, not all are held in local council authority parks, I can think of many, all the Glasgow parkruns are in the City of Glasgow Council area, the Lanarkshire Council owns around 4 parks where parkruns are held, same in Fife where there are several parkruns held in parks owned by Fife Council, I am sure all those councils will allow parkruns to begin as soon as possible when they get the all clear from the Scottish Government.
Does Scotland have a date pencilled in AlMorr ?
No date set for the start of parkruns in Scotland but I think once they resume in England it won't be long before they start in Scotland, if there are any parkruns held in the Carlisle area I think many runners from the South and Central Scotland will go there to run, it's only 1 hour by car from Central Scotland to the Carlisle area.
If your local parkrun is on council land (and most actual parks and promenades probably are) it's easy - write to all your councillors and ask for their support when the subject comes up for debate as a result of the parkrun letter. Do it today, stress the health benefits and the results of the risk assessments .....
I shouldn’t worry if you haven’t done one yet Jell6. There will be lots of passionate parkrunners to answer the call . My councillor’s 70 year old mum and his sisters do parkrun so he backed me straight away when I wrote for support last month.
I've only been to park runs twice Jell6 , but they were at my local Welsh venue, and we've a whole set of different rules across the border, and the venue is national trust as well so it's pretty complicated 🤷 let's hope they do survive
Today's parkrun blog says 'As part of our regular UK Friday updates we’ll be publishing a full list of the permission status of English parkrun events from this week, as well as updating on the current status across all countries within the UK, so please keep checking back there for further information on your local events'blog.parkrun.com/uk/2021/04...
So we should be able to check whether our local parkrun is OK or whether there's a problem and we need to lobby! Of course, we want them all back! 😀
