I know Hidden highlighted an issue the other day, before I even knew I’d got a problem. My Forerunner 35 seems to be failing to correctly sync this time, despite me going through the whole set of Garmin troubleshooting options. It’s saying it has synced with the Garmin Connect app, but is showing today’s run only as an automatic “IQ Event” with no run data. (Even on the Garmin device itself it doesn’t show the usual 1k lap time data, oddly, but it does at least show the run activity time correctly, unlike the IQ event on the app...)
Am starting to get a bit frustrated with Garmins already, and I’ve not owned it that long...😕

I’ve not used mine today MD, but hoping it will be sorted for my run tomorrow. So long as the data is on your watch you won’t lose it and it will eventually sync to garmin connect . I’m sorry that it has been playing up for you as I know I raved about mine when I got it.
When i had a google/android phone. I could leave the phone two floors up or down from me and it would till send notifications. With iPhone, the watch bleats like a lost lamb every time i go into another room.
Thanks guys - I think others have updated from Garmin to Strava today too (some who I believe use IOS), so wonder if this is just me... I’m not quite sure what the watch has stored either, Eileen, as it should have done automatic 1k lap times and didn’t...
So far I’ve just been using my phone. I don’t usually use a PC, only my iPad, so don’t even have Garmin Express on my PC, but guess I’d better try this later...Thanks x
Mine seems ok. I have the same issue as everyone else where the watch doesn’t automatically sync with the phone every so often, but powering the watch off/on always sorts it out. I use an Android phone.
synching is tedious at present. "sometimes I have to turn bluetooth off, close connect then turn bluetooth on again. Does my head in. I never had this trouble with android. iOS and Connect don't like each other much. It's been worse with the iOS12.1 update - but I'm public beta testing incremental updates, so I get all the bugs.
It sounds like it might just be me Hidden . I’ve repeatedly had Bluetooth on and off on the phone / shut down both phone and watch / disconnected watch from phone then reconnected...
It says it has synched, it just hasn’t done it correctly. I’ll have to try Garmin support when I’ve got long enough to wait. For my next run I think I may start the Runkeeper app on my phone again...
Ps. telford_mike I find if it doesn't immediately sync (for me that usually seems to be related to WiFi interruptions for some reason, I think my phone struggles a bit with multitasking) you can force sync by pressing the circular double arrow thing in the top right hand side of the My Day screen of the Connect app. It might save you turning your watch on and off, and only takes a couple of seconds to do 🙂
I am an IOS user, and apart from having to disconnect the link between the apple health app and the watch, I have had no problems. Occasionally I have to switch blue tooth off and on at my phone when wanting to sync(quicker than doing it on the watch), but that is it. I always use the circular double arrow SqKR mentions to synch after a run just because I am impatient to see the data. The only issue I have noticed is that it takes a while, sometimes a day or two,for the app to flag up a PB....not a major problem for me. That said I haven't been able to run for a week, so hope all will be well when I get back into the woods. Have just done a sync to test it and it was fine, just had to force the blue tooth connection by switching on and off at the phone, but had left my watch off overnight.
Thanks for everyone’s replies. ❤️ I finally tried Hidden ‘s suggestion of syncing using my PC, but that didn’t work either. Rang Garmin support, who tried a couple of other things unsuccessfully, then had me do a factory reset of my Forerunner 35!
So I’ve lost data from the run that didn’t sync now (but my other runs are stored in the Garmin Connect app), and will find out if this reboot worked or not after tomorrow’s run. If not then I’m to ring Garmin support again. (My Runkeeper app on my phone is going on too this time!)
On the plus side, Garmin UK support answered quickly and were as helpful as they could be at solving my issue over the phone...😊
It did thanks Flick! (Just back to the usual Forerunner 35 Gremlin today - switching between km and miles with pace, so you’ve really no idea what speed you’re doing! 😂😂😂 I mentioned that to Garmin yesterday too, and they said they were trying to correct it. )
urggg its so annoying. I find turning bluetooth on my phone on and off sometimes sorts as well as ensuring you have the most up to date garmin app..... I hope it sorts...
Thanks ju-ju- - I’d already tried those things, and the whole list suggested in Garmin’s FAQs. If the factory reset doesn’t work then Garmin Support said to ring them back again... I’m hoping this is a one off issue! 🙄❤️
