Warning long post: Well that was a run with definite pluses and minuses!

Managed to get out early-ish @ 7am before work. Couldn’t decide on long/short/intervals run. Decided to just go with it and decide after first 1 or 2km. Took the route over field paths heading towards woods and lake. Minimal mud πŸ‘πŸ». trotted along nicely and realised I felt good and had some stamina than I’ve had for a while. πŸ‘πŸ» After first two kms realised I was on for poss 5k pb if I could continue at same pace. Decided to go for it πŸ‘πŸ» 3rd and 4th going steady. Listening to Yusuf Cat Stevens on Desert Island Discs and enjoying his story and music choices πŸ‘πŸ» 5k came and yes not a pb exactly but a match to current pb (although this was a tougher route- so very pleased with myself πŸ‘πŸ»). Then the aftershokz died on me just as my brain engaged and told me legs were getting tired πŸ‘ŽπŸ» decided that nothing was going to spoil my morning and that not only were neither of these things a problem but I would now continue and make this my 8k long run on Ju Ju magic plan. πŸ‘πŸ» but 6k with no one in my ear to distract me was harder than I expected πŸ‘ŽπŸ» decided to play loudly podcast on phone so I could still hear it from the running belt (this May or may not have annoyed some fishermen and dog walkers 🀭). Now in my confusion over tech failure I made the mistake of taking a second lap around the lake before heading back. This was a mistake for two reasons 1. I would end my run and still have a 20 mins walk to get home 2. After completing 8k πŸ‘πŸ» and During the said walk home I suddenly came over all Paula Radcliffe πŸ˜±πŸ’© and started to panic and clamber into the nearest hedgerow (I kid you not) πŸ‘ŽπŸ» however my body decided at last minute that it would not allow this to happen and so I clambered back out and walked very briskly back home! As soon as I got in (now 20 mins later than planned) I grabbed my work phone, cancelled my first zoom meeting of the day and headed to the loo! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ still chuffed now at having completed only my second 8k run ever and getting my 5k timing. Hope the longer runs don’t all require possible emergency loo breaks 😬

It's getting to the bit that after 5K, a 8K is my favourite distance, I suppose that is because I take just under one hour to complete it, for you as well 8K seems a good run, I am glad that you enjoyed your run today despite a few other distractions especially after you finished the run, good luck for your Ju Ju's Magic 10, not long before you can run a 10K.

Thanks AlMorr - yes 10k seems to be in sight πŸ™‚

Well done for a great run πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

but Oh my goodness - this sounds very familiar ... I’ve worked out that if I eat after 5pm day before a run, I need emergency pit stop 😟 - believe me ... you are not alone.

On the plus side for me (being overweight), it means I eat less 3 times a week 🀣

Thanks 61Lady. πŸ˜‚ it’s never happened before when running 5ks - I normally use the loo and then go for a run - so I am thinking it’s got something to do with the longer distances πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

What an eventful run and a great 8k, I particularly liked the bit about having to play your podcast and annoying the fishermen 😊 Why is it that the tech always seems to let us down when we need it most? As for the Paula Radcliffe moment it's one that I and I guess lots of us dread !

Thanks. I’m still amused by it now. Must be better prepared next time!

Well done for doing that topsy turvy run! Some unexpected hurdles πŸ˜‚ but that happens. I know what you mean about getting back in time for work when you're on a roll with a run!

Thanks Roxdog - yes this work from home lark has meant that I have to really reign myself in as otherwise I would be late for work 3 times a week!

Sooo annoying when ear buds go silent, you are a few days in front of us on the magic plan, both on same week, we are hoping to run 8k tomorrow after a restful rest day today

Good luck with the 8k - weather forecast seems good for tomorrow so hopefully you will have a lovely run

Thank you, as long as we don’t wake to pouring rain we will be fine, it’s hard to get Willow out the door in the rain πŸ˜‚

🀣 definitely a πŸ‘πŸ»

The Paula Radcliffe is often far more mental. Once we focus on it, it can become a much bigger issue.

10k is well within your grasp now 😁

Thanks, I’m starting to believe it might be!

Believing it is the biggest part of reaching it πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜

Absolutely πŸ’― a positive. Especially as you went pretty quickly over 5k which would make the next 3 tricky but you did it. The tummy thing can be normal too so don't worry. Steadier long run next time will see 10k looking rosy πŸ˜‰

Well done Slothgoesrunning. An eventful run. I think I would have ditched if my earphones died!

It's funny how I never like music in the background when I'm gardening or walking in the country but can't run without it 😏

Thanks. I’ve gone from music to podcasts or audio books - somehow having someone chatting is more background and less forefront of my mind when running which I like. I guess we all find what works for us. Happy running!
