Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Morning Damien; I have never been amongst the first responders to your post!
After having a spell of freestyle running as I please I have started the HM plan again this morning. What better way to do it than with a 5k not park tempo run (I guess with a real Park Run would be the answer!). Still, out of nowhere I managed 31.16 this morning. Best paced 5k in years. 🤷♂️ completely out of the blue. Must be the sunshine!
I hope everyone had a great morning; maybe faster runs are in the air!🙂
Fantastic. Very well done. The guy who ran with me today and ended up pacing me was training for a marathon and incorporated the parkrun in to his long run. He was amazing and ended up pacing me to a home course parkrun PB.
Good morning Damien, this morning I was a marshall at Palacerigg Country Parkrun, 9 times there as a volunteer, my 18th volunteer duty altogether at parkrun, there was a whole family running this morning, a grandmother, husband, wife and daughter, that just proves how family friendly parkruns are, weather was quite warm for the runners, temperature 18C with a very light south west wind.
Where I live in Central Scotland the temperature for the last few days has been around 21C, dry but not much sun, this afternoon after 5 o'clock there was a little rain, tomorrow I'm going a short 17K bike ride.
Was very prepared for it being as warm as it has been the last few days in Sussex so when we drove into overcast skies and a cooler breeze it was a welcome relief.
Had been grappling with a sore Achilles this week so didn’t want to push it today so made sure I had a comfortable run.
Pretty uneventful, the slower pace was lovely and made for an enjoyable ParkRun. Finish time 33:06.
🎈That was ParkRun no 50 for me today. Red t-shirt awaits 😊🎈
Good afternoon Damien and all, wow, it is quiet in here?!
I wasn’t going to be going to a parkrun this week but we cancelled our Fordy summer games entry earlier in the week as we needed the weekend to chill rather than rush up and down the M40. I signed myself and eldest kitten up for timekeeping. As it turned out, I still needed to do a run as I binned my Friday planned run yesterday, and did it before parkrun today instead.
It was surprisingly sweaty out there today, despite it being cooler and windy. We had someone faint because they were dehydrated. I’m glad I took a litre of electrolytes with me to drink after my run - I downed it very quickly. Look after yourself out there kids, it’s sneakily sapping.
Katnap was the only one of us who ran the actual parkrun. Youngest kitten opted to stay in bed, which seems eminently sensible to me!
Have a good week everyone, and congratulations Damien on your new PB!! 🥳👏👏👏
Hope it’s nothing to do with this Microsoft computer issue! Everyone seems to be having a day off together. Start of school hols I suppose🤷♂️. Well done the Kat family for keeping Park Runs going.🙂
Ah thank you so much. My home parkrun has a tough hill which needs to be tackled three times. Rotten hill. I made a new home parkrun PB. All thanks to being paced.
I ran Southsea this morning for the first time for ages, and it was nice to be on our flat prom again after undulating tourist runs on trail or grass. It was humid with a southerly breeze, and although it was cloudy I was glad to be in shorts and vest.
At 34:40, it wasn’t a brilliant time but it is the best since May. I’m always happy if the age score is above 55% and today it was 60.29%.
We then headed to a bar for a parkrun core team breakfast meeting to discuss our upcoming 500th parkrun plans.
we did TC. The only problem is not knowing how many will turn up on the day. I’ve got 300 more tokens than we usually have attending but I may print more on card just in case!
Cloudy but close at Lakeside this morning. Joined by an ex-colleague who is an RD at a nearby parkrun - she couldn't resist offering to do the run report!
Not the best conditions for continuing progress back to sub-30 (excuses, excuses!), but managed to keep sub-32 (just) at 31.59. Had an enjoyable catch up afterwards.
Nice morning playing parkrun tourists at Lymington Woodside!( from the Isle of Wight, a 7am ferry!!!) 1 x 1km lap then 2 x 2km laps, pretty course round a lovely park with coffee and cake afterwards , would recommend! Friendly bunch too! I was ploddy but Kenny got his 1st sub 30 mins for this year !! 👌
Got a cold which has got worse as days gone on so home now and feet up!!! Xxx
Well done. Must get my Microlight back into the air soon. Perfect opportunity for parkrun tourism. I used to fly to the Isle of Wight years ago before my boys clipped my wings.
I took a break from parkrun tourism today and instead ran at my local parkrun course in Navan. After a 13 week parkrun touring streak it was so nice to be running at my local parkrun course. I had lovely chats with everyone before the start and ended up running with a little group. We were pacing well, but after a while myself and a guy called John who was incorporating parkrun as part of his marathon training plan pulled ahead. After 3.5 K I was getting tired and told John to head on, but he had none of it and insisted that I kept pace. Concentrated on the breathing and kept pace with his footsteps. He spurred me on. With 250 meters to go I sprinted to the finish line and crossed with a new course PB. 26:09. Delighted. Thanks to John.
No parkrun for me but our friends Clive and Julie have been staying with us in France, so I introduced Clive to the Eymet Running Club for our Friday 5k with coffee and cake yesterday. Very hot 🥵
Blooming warm on my local parkrun, still kept in my usual time 'band' though. It would be nice to set a new PB but that will come as I'm not far off. Oh, it was no 30 since last September when I started.
I still can't do parkrun because of my ankle, but I can help out. I've done a couple of (not) parkruns recently, I can walk but I'm a bit slow and need to stop for a few mins.
21 degrees and humid at my parkrun on Saturday. A couple of short sections in shade, but most of it in the full sun. Kept a steady pace, jeffed the last hill. Best part was sitting in a sweaty heap on the grass afterwards with a cup of cordial. That’s parkrun number 47 ticked off. 50th is looming on the radar....
Hi did my 40th parkrun and 25th at my local parkrun it was a lovely morning a sweaty run but unfortunately for me it's not a pb course but I enjoyed the run, Shroggs Park is my local course before I forget but I very much prefer Lister Park Bradford and the Huddersfield course
