Definitely a week of 2 halves

As I have mentioned recently I have been trying to do slower, longer runs and I wanted to try to get back to 10km. My plan on Wednesday was to do a slow 8km, but the weather was so beautiful that when I reached 8 I thought I could safely and slowly tootle to 9, I did, well you can see the rest. To be honest my legs probably had another 1 or 2 km left but common sense prevailed.

1 hour and 19 minutes of this was in the cardio zone, and I was impressed, as that took a surprising amount of focus to maintain.

Today I thought I would pick up the pace a bit and again was fortunate that it was another glorious autumn morning .

I didn't have much left in the tank after though๐Ÿ˜†

Thank you cheeky, I really enjoyed that slow long (for me) run๐Ÿคฃ.

I read, but couldn't reply to your HM post. Excellent, congratulations ๐Ÿ˜˜

Slower runs are the best arenโ€™t they? They keep us coming back for more. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks, the HM was fun (I can say that now itโ€™s over!) ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿฅฐ

Great running distance Jell6 that slowing it all down science project works, but like you mentioned it's no mean feat keeping it within that correct zone.......but it definitely pays off ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Hidden .I can't see me doing 10km every week, but 7 or 8 will definitely happen. I certainly won't leave it over a year before I do another 10km!

I am so grateful to Tasha99 for her post that set me off in this direction. Who knows, I might even go further ๐Ÿคฉ

You know it's only mind over matter๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ™‚ you've probably done that in a blink on some of those crazy busy NHS shifts........ Remember your 10% rule and heck Jell6, go knock it out or the park ๐Ÿค“

Yes, you're right, this could be my 2021 goal, just the distance, with absolutely no time limit๐Ÿ˜

โ€ข in reply toJell6

Bish bash bosh, get yourself the distance the time you can work on laters ๐Ÿ‘, I'm saving my run ๐Ÿคžfor tonight, as cheffing has taken priority ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ I blame James Martin, watched his show earlier and Kaboom, Saturday spaghetti bolognese for the mutant teenagers good-to-go โœ….

Thankou!, Yes, definitely whoopee!. If I hadn't set myself a weird personal challenge of only 1 alcoholic drink each month for September October and November I would have rewarded myself with a glass of something ๐Ÿ™„

Both runs look really impressive to us and so good to know it can be done

Thank you you two๐Ÿ˜Š

What has amazed me is that I only started with the much slower runs about 4 weeks ago. How quickly our bodies react is impressive.

Hope you are both keeping well..

We always ran super slow apart from run 1 week 1 where after a minute running were bent double gasping for breath, our first 5k took 52 minutes but months later managed it in 40 minutes, we will never be fast, we are very well thanks and iโ€™m super proud that we have kept everyone at work staff and people who live there healthy and mostly happy ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Resting today and looking forward to 8k tomorrow although it will take a long time we love being able to run in our mid sixties

Keep well and run strong

Well done on the 10K, cruising like a Cadillac (I didnโ€™t quite spell that correctly on the first attempt, and autocorrect seized in on my weakness and just tried sneaking that into Cruising like a Casserole. Itโ€™s like it wants me to get a back-hander) and then gunning 5K like a Ghini (Lambor).

Must feel like a great achievement when pace is all premeditated and held will conscious effort. Very inspirational.

It did feel like a result. Are you prepared to give slow a go?
