and not up to running but the last couple of days I had been feeling a little bit better so decided to get back out there and at least the weather was quite good this morning.
I was out at around 07:00
I set my watch to look for GPS at the start of my warm up walk and even after 5 minutes walking it had not locked on to GPS !
I pressed start, then stopped and discarded the dummy run and set to run again , I had to do this again before it eventually locked on !
I decided to do the NRC Running on Empty run as this was definitely how I was feeling ,and even this was cut short to finish at 3K but happy to have got back out .
NRC and watch started and off we go
Even though this was not an easy run I still managed to start ok with a reasonable pace and was happy with the first Km.
The next Km was slightly downhill so a slightly faster split was likely and this was achieved.
The 3rd Km is always a tricky one as it first goes uphill then down again so tricky to maintain a steady pace but managed to do it and end up with a negative split run !
I was more than happy with this and as always, happy to have got out again .
Back home , stretches done , and porridge eaten ! and of course a BIG mug of tea made π
Now another tricky decision to make , Bath or Shower , Shower or Bath ! π
Happy Running !

Sounds like I'm not the only one struggling a bit with running. But you did run and that's what counts! You persisted and the run is done!
Ah well done you Ian, I completely understand where youβre coming from as have been feeling the same. So glad you got out there, and thatβs a good run! Lovely photos too. I had 6k down on my plan yesterday but decided even before I started running I was going to halve it, so 3k it was, same as you π. πππΌπππΌπ
I hadnβt realised you werenβt feeling great, your answers to peopleβs posts are always so encouraging, we all need a break sometimes, good to hear you got out for a while, bath or shower? shower or bath? when i take time choosing itβs always a bath Have a relaxing day
Well done, Ian! You got out there and thatβs what matters. πππππWe know that running gives us a much needed boost, yet we make excuses not to! Iβm just the same. I ran last Saturday and have been overcome by the gremlins since then. Ran this morning and feel heaps better! Planning another run for Saturday. π
Haha, Iβve taken tea back upstairs so many times, but if I actually get back into bed, the gremlin has won π, you did well to get up and go!
What lovely sunny weather you had for your run. I hoped it helped lift your spirits. Any run is a good run, no matter how long it is. Keep posting so we can encourage you along. π
A tip for Garmin watches, especially if you haven't used them for over a week, is to sync with the phone a few minutes before you're intending to go out. It then uploads new GPS ephemeris data into the watch, which in turn means a faster GPS lock.
Without that, the watch has to download the data from the GPS satellites, which is a slow affair, taking up to 10 minutes at worst case.
Well done Ian. πππIt's really tough sometimes to get out there even though we know we will feel better for it.I'm still battling my own gremlins ATM but you laced up and ran this morning, so that's a huge positive thing you did.
Sorry to hear you've not been feeling great, at least you got out there, i know my run, after my 2nd covid jab felt pretty tough, and still not running so much at the moment, once a week, but swimming too, so not too bad!
