Brighton 10km race cancelled πŸ˜”

No surprise really, but I’m gutted as I was on track with my training and really looking forward to it. They are offering a virtual run where you can still get a medal and t shirt or defer to 2021. What with Parkrun no longer happening it’s hard to stay motivated.

Sooooo. I’ve decided to run the virtual one with my son and hopefully my brother too as his radio therapy will be done by then. πŸ˜ƒ I will raise more money for prostate cancer research and male mental health too which were my original charities. And I am targeting a 49 minute 10km to keep the training motivation up.

Definitely keep going. Virtually will be really rewarding. Especially if you can run with your brother and son. 49 minutes would be an absolutely incredible achievement. Go steady, keep going and you'll be spot on!

It won’t be the same without the adrenaline buzz of the race but I’m looking forward to running with them provided it’s still allowed by then GTFC.

Good luck for your viritual Brighton 10K race, a sub 50 minutes would be a magnificent achievement, especially if you are running with your son and hopefully your brother as well.

Thank you AlMorr. I think I can do it if the weather is favourable πŸ˜‚ i.e no headwind.

Sorry to hear that BrianUK but as you say, probably not surprising in the current climate. But well done you on doing a virtual one with your son and brother. 49 minutes? - crikey, that’s some serious training!

My brother is a big motivating factor in all my running. His attitude to life and his fortitude and strength inspire me. He makes me run hard and gets the best out me. So I think I can do this. I came close to it last week in a test race on a track so I just need a little more pace and I’ll do it hopefully. It’s been a dream of mine for a long while. My son is a little whippet and will be biting at me heels too so between them, no injuries, and half decent weather, it should be doable πŸ€žπŸ˜‰πŸ˜¬πŸ˜€

Disappointing BUT running with your son and hopefully brother too sounds brilliant...and a 49 minute 10K would be an amazing achievement.

Best of luck πŸŽ‰
